Advice on buying clothes for new job

So I finally graduated college and landed a real job, and now I need a new wardrobe pretty much (I currently wear jeans and band t-shirts a lot...guess that'll have to change ). Dress code at the new job is pretty laid-back; apparently polos and khaki pants are about as dressed up as I'll need to be. I've already got a nice pair of brown casual shoes, and a few belts, so I'm good there. However, I'll need this stuff:

    - socks (sounds easy enough, I'm guessing some tan dress socks will be good)
    - pants (I'm thinking Docker's chinos, looks like they're cut slimmer than most khakis)
    - shirts (Here's the big one. I only have 2-3 polo shirts now, so I'll need some more. Who makes decent polos that aren't way expensive?)

I'll be in the desert, so the more breathable the stuff is, the happier I am.

You know something to think about is even with khakis and polo's you can still have your own style, I have a lot of polo type shirts that just happen to have a lot of almost tattoo like designs on them. They definatly make me stand out from the average abercrombie pin head but I still look very professional at the same time. Something to think about. I mean if you are a skater or punk type check pac sun or zumiez and BC surf and sport if you have those and you will deffinatly find some polo type shirts

You could check a big chain store that has generic brand polos. Thats what i do. H&M has a deal on them like 2 for 20$. Places like foot locker also sell generic brand polos for cheap too. Sure they dont have any designs on them but you're not headed to the club just to work.....

Where did you get your Polo's? those sound pretty bad ass.

I usually get eric's polo's from the clearance section of American eagle. My second choice is usually Old navy.

I have a Red Honda Polo, Just has the Honda H on the left chest, It's pretty comfortable, other then that most of mine are just plain Walmart, Target, and one Old Navy. I don't wear many Polo's so I go for cheap but comfortable.

                  all mine are ralphlauren/lacoste/burberry/vineyardvines

express sometimes has them on sale, for cheap

also, CHECK EBAY. i've never bought clothes off of ebay, but you can get ralphlauren shirts in bulk (like 5-6, all the same size, and they come out to be pretty cheap. like $50 for them, or 60, whatever. A LOT cheaper than in stores)

like this, which translates out to roughly $20 a shirt. expensive in some eyes, but sometimes it matters which brand you choose. (to some people, it can impress them i guess?) this is just a inexpensive way to get the polo shirts. hell, its a LOT better than paying $65 a shirt like at our store!

Except on ebay aren't you pretty much assured to be buying fakes? $20 for a shirt isn't outrageous...but I wouldn't pay that much for a fake.

Yes, if you buy lots of 6 Ralph Lauren shirts. However, if you buy 1 at a time you can buy authentic ones for $12 or so a piece.
