Not windows? what OS? In most cases you're probably SOL short of reformat and reinstall, but I'm not a top level expert.

you'll have to take it apart.
a). sometimes there are bios PW reset jumpers
b). try taking the battery out (on the motherboard)
c). sometimes there is a 'reset' button on the bottom (use a paper clip).

Most passwords can be reset or bypassed by using the original OS install disc.

At what part of the boot up process does it ask for a password?

When you first turn it on. The bios password. wont show setup without it and wont boot to windows without it.

                  its a toshiba satellite A205-S5843

There is no batt on the motherboard.

I opened it to check and i can't find it.

if all else fails, pull the chip. The password is stored on the chip and there's really no way to crack it except for physical brute force (sit there and try to figure it out)
