I think you're looking @ it in the wrong way.Originally posted by ChIoVnIdCa View Postlol why give someone who basically doesn't pay taxes more money
ie why should the "poorer" guy get more
More pertinently, why should the rich guy get more? This isn't exactly social security, but widening the gap between rich/poor, even a little bit, isn't going to help anything.
At least the handout from the government managed to keep us from being in the red this quarter. This would have been the second quarter in the red, meaning the republicans would've had to have admitted to recession, just before the elections.
The extra revenue from the checks means no red this quarter, no recession, and smart looking republicans.
Sneaky sneaky.
Stupid bit is that now even the democrats are behind this extremely temporary fix to larger economic problems.

x2. Why does everyone think it was an advance on next years refunds? There was no evidence of this being true, in fact, 99% of ALL info on the stimulus checks go out of their way to say how it's NOT a loan, advance, etcOriginally posted by jdmwannabe View PostI got mine in May. Now for the last time this was not an "advance" on our refunds. We do not have to pay it back, it has nothing to do with our refunds, like the people before me said it was basically to keep us out of the red.
just wondering why people dont pay attention...
and for those of you who haven't received their checks, call or go on the IRS website. don't be too lazy to get the required information and then come bitch to us that you dont have your free money.
