    CB7 Dilema

Ok i have been searching high and or dry for a CB7 in Regina, Saskatoon and even winnipeg. I havent been able to get anything that meets my standards yet. I am just looking for any type of cb7 with no rust on it (yea its hard to find here ).

Now I will probally get 2k back from insur .. from when dad messed up the car.. but the adjuster is taking wayyyy too long.. (month overdue).

Should I buy a slightly rusted cb for 1200 and use the money to fix the rust and maybe paint? or keep lookin for a clean rust free one for around 2k?

Do what I did. I drove down all the way to Florida. You could perhaps look around in California.

I've had rust repaired twice, and it's come back twice. I have friends that put new quarter panels on, and have had leaking issues. I've also known a few people to put new quarters on and it was perfect.

For $2000, it'll be hard to find a rust-free car. It'll be hard to find a car worth driving for $2000, even if it needs rust repair. Going South is a good idea, but when you incorporate travel, repairs, and other expenses into that $2000, you're looking at about $800 to spend on a car. You'd be lucky to find a rust free shell with no motor for that!

Your best bet is to get a rusted one and take your chances with a repair... or just hold off and save more money. $2000 on a "not so good" car is a waste of $2000. $3500 on a MUCH better car is well worth it.

what makes the rust keep coming back after new metal has been put in there? the is the design that bad that it somehow makes it inevitable?

Make sure the mechanical issues are sorted out, better to take a good running CB w/a little rust than a clean one with a messed up motor
