I'm planning on going to the local ATC to get a Certificate of Completion in CNC Machining. Average pay around here for that job is $38,000 a year at starting (Cost of living is cheap as hell, I can rent a 2 bedroom appt for $400/month). Not bad for $2000 and 1 year of school.Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.

I used to be a CNC operator. Here is the thing, The operators them selves are not paid well. The money is in the programmer. If you can write the program then you are set. I know how to use the commands , G and M codes, Feeds and speeds. BUT I never really got into the programing.
Now I just do manual

the thing is i hate programming, i couldnt use solidworks in my engineering class worth a shit, cant believe i even passed it.
im a hands on guy and what im basically shooting for is the use of a CNC machine but more in the automotive application like boring out lifter bores, porting heads, combustion chamber work.

especially if you have been using a mastercam program anything older than 10
its going to be hard to get around programming if you still want to be hands on with a CNC

its quite the treatOriginally posted by cb95spd View Posti've been using AutoCAD for 10 years and made thousands of CNC files.
it's quite easy really
as for Solid works, i have never had the opportunity to use it.
its cool to put all your parts together and see them work before you even make it
