    Help with dvd burning

does anyone here burn dvd's? if so, what program do you use and what all do you have to do to burn them. i have nero super special ultra deluxe edition and yet, i still cant get them to burn properly. when i try and copy a disc it will copy the image and then when it goes to burn it, it says that it wont fit on the new disc. so, then i heard you have to go in and take out just the files that are the movie and just burn them and the extra features stuff just wont cut it. so, someone help, im an idiot, and i dont want to search the rest of the internet because i know that i will inevitably just get pop ups, spyware, and people trying to sell me shit.
    so thanks,
    mike

hey chess... I'm here in KY too...LEX to be exact...

    Anyway...DVD burning...
you have some choices...and somethings ya have to brush up on.

Unfortunately, MOVIE DVD's have a bunch of information....around double the density of how much memory that is available on a writable DVD disc. a writable dvd can only contain around 4.7GB of info...

You're right however, you're going to have to simply separate the parts that you want. It's possible to only snag the movie portion of the DVD, and put it on a writable dvd. Most likely, you're going to have to omit the special features...

Unfortunately, that version of nero might not be able to partition those parts of the movie that you want....

I would consider trying to find a loose copy of DVDxCOPY floating around in cyberspace...that program is a well built program...and is almost completely flawless...---only drawback finding it...and the amount that you can put on your disc...like i said...it might be only the movie...

Im sorry but I have to say you are wrong^
I have dvd shrink 3.2 that we downloaded, and I can fit a complete movie on a dvd writeable disk with 4.7 mb. most movies that I have been buring with all special features and all, comes out to be around 4.464 mb. Hold on and let me try to find the web site.

        wrong in what manner?

the keyword you're using is "shrink"...so in essence you're making some kinda compressed file on that writable DVD. Of course that may work, however chess is going to have to sacrifice quality. I'm not sure of his options on this particular aspect of coping DVD's, but that's totally up to him.

Of course, using dvd shrink is an option...however I never mentioned using this program. I assumed and defaulted to him making a quality copy. dvd shrink only works well @ 85-90% compression...anymore compression and quality starts to suck ass.

one other thing...dvd shrink is freeware...so there's a possibility that the software is stank in general...full of bugs and of course some kinda registration fee of some kind. There are a handful of programs that exist that are out there that can copy dvd's. However I know that DVDxCOPY actually made it out on the market to buy over the counter...and not some freeware/shareware thing. So, again, it's up to chess to decide whether it's quality to sacrifice and make some MP3 out of his DVD...or make a high quality copy of his disc.

DVDxCOPY Platinum is what i used i downloaded it off of kazaa with the crack and every thing just make sure you have a good up too date ainti virus becuase i had to download like 8 differnt ones till i found the one that worked the others where viruses. make sure you fallow what it says to use the crack and when ever you run the program you have to be online because it checks to see if u have a workin seiral but the crack takes care of it all as long as your online. the program is great super easy step by step instructions its easier then burning a cd and you can fit movies that are 7 gigs on a 4 gig dvd. theres only one draw back that what ever movie you burn you cant burn the copy. like if you rent Bad Boyz 2 and you burn a copy for you then that copie can not be reburned to another dvd using the same program. to make another copie you would have to make it from the orignal dvd.

now that were on the subject dose any one use netflixs ? i hear that the dvds they use are copies that cant be burned any no know if its true?

Ok dude I might be getting this wrong. Does chess want to make a copy from a movie he allready has or is he trying to burn something that he downloader? Well Im sorry but what I've been doing is burning a copy from an original. The shrink bypasses the copyright protection and allows me to burn it 100%, so sorry not trying to be an ass.
