    Jap Luxury vs. Euro Luxury

Well I recently decided to buy another car, and decided that a comfortable highway cruise would be ideals.

I began researching cars like the Lexus ES300, Acura TL, Infiniti i35, as well as the German counterparts BMW 3/5 Series, Audi A4/A6, Mercedes C/E.

    Which do you like?

    Any reason?

    I like the IS300
    Maple50175 - you're annoying =P
Brandoncb7 - I don't mean to come across like an ass but I see why you irritate Aaron now.
JoshM - Crotch rocket = chick magnet.

              ES300 = rebadged, overpriced Camry

I35 = Rebadged, overpriced Maxima (though I would take it over the Lexus... mainly because I prefer the Maxima over the Camry)

TL = Accord-based... but IMO, the best of the three. Definitely the sportiest of the three... especially if you get the last generation. At least Honda didn't do it the bitch-ass way and simply rebadge an Accord. The TL has an Accord foundation, but it's unique enough to really be its own model.

BMW 3 series = solid... but still BMW's lowest offering in the US. The 5 series is more luxurious... but you pay for it. Plus, until the newer models arrived (expensive, still) they still had a bit of a dated look. The e36 3 series looked more up to date than the 5 series of the same years, I always felt.

Mercedes C class... I once heard a girl talking about a guy that thoght he was this shit because he drove a Benz... but in her words "it was only a C class!" I'm not all that up on Mercedes, but the E class is an upper model, right? It's also made in the USA, I believe. I'm not a huge fan of MB's interior quality, wannabe sportiness, or reliability. As much as I like them from a distance, I don't think I'd want to own one myself.

Audi... meh... Nice cars. Well made... until they break. They're VWs. Audi has been owned by VW since the 60s. They're made very well, true... but Audi is to VW as Lincoln is to Ford. When I was shopping for a new car, I considered an A4. AccordWarrior told me of his friend's dad. The guy had one, and after a few years, it broke. Badly. It cost more to fix the car than it was worth, so he scrapped it. The car was about 5 years old. Not saying this is a normal occurance... and I'm sure it's an exception to the norm... but I stopped looking after I heard that story.

What's your price range? The TL would be my choice out of all of those... unless you brought the RWD Infiniti and Lexus models into play.

If I were to go German, it'd be BMW. I'm still considering BMW for the future, actually.

of what you posted, ive always liked the bmw and the audi compared to the merc or lex. sleek smooth cars. mercedes always gave me the feeling of a thick-curvy-luxury-style that my grandfather would be interested in, that ends up looking awkwardly proportioned, and unnecessarily overpriced. and the IS is like a lexus luxury civic, its tall in the back and stunted in the front, without enough body in between to make it not look like a wedge.

though of course careful, tasteful use of body mods/lips would help anything look better.

obviously im going by initial looks, but that is a very important major thing to consider lol. as far as overall, ive always considered the TL to be my #1 choice. i love everything about it. exterior, interior, engine, suspension, and best of all, its a HONDA.

the TL is a VERY sexy line of cars, the previous generation is fantastic:

                  http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/A...Photos2008.htm

                  or even the 3.2tl

but that may not be new and luxurious enough for you? if anything, this would probably be the first "new" car that i would buy after my accord.

though i dont think i would never get one, ive always kinda liked cadillac STS :X

or even the newer one if you must:

                    469hp luxury sedan...

Even after being burned by GM with my GTP (though 50,000 miles in a year didn't really help on my part...) I would still consider the V series Cadillacs. In fact, I am.

Europeans have the luxury market hands down. Merc, BMW, maybach, etc. Old brittish companies were great, rolls, bently, etc but now... who knows who owns them. i'm betting either american or german.

A first or second generation GS would be nice, I believe you can get one around $10k.

                            First Gen:

                            Second Gen:

Or the newer 3rd Generation GS like the one I have. Although your budget is $4-$10k

And correct me if I am wrong, but for Japanese its VIP and for the Euro its DTM?

I like the CTS-V especially the newer ones with the ls7. What pisses me off about the new STS is that the GM designers got lazy and just made the CTS body bigger. Pretty *** but oh well.

I kinda like the G8's also

I am partial to euro more than Japanese. The japanese build a car thats easy to work on and affordable for the price. I love Lexus vehicles and so on but I dunno something about european cars that get me. Especially BMW which is one of my favorite automakers. MB is nice but I prefer BMW.

                              Some MB's

And if I needed a SUV there is always porsche and range rover
