My computer was pretty fast... 4 years ago when I built it. No real hardware upgrades since then, just periphrials.
Abit VT7
2.26 GHz Intel P4 Northwood
eVga 6600GT 128mb ram
1024 MB DDR-400 ram
480w Vantec PSU
CD-RW drive
DVD-RW drive
250 gb western digital SATA drive
80 gb western digital IDE drive
120 gb Seagate IDE drive
I really would like to dump about $400 into this so it can play newer games a bit faster.
That said, there is a Turion 64 X2 in my laptop. However, that is mainly for email and internet browsing, I don't really do anything intensive on that.
As it stands though, Intel is kicking serious ass.
Here's my system:
Intel E6600 OC'd to 2.93ghz (326FSB, stock voltage)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
4GB (4X1GB) 1066mhz DDR2
Antec TruePower II 550W PSU (Old, but awesome PSU, has been running my systems for 3 years FLAWLESSLY).
nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
Creative X-fi Audio
Western Digital Raptor 74GB (10,000RPM)
Western Digtal 500GB
Optiarc SATA DVD-RW Drive
CoolerMaster Centuriom 590C Tower
20" Dell LCD
System pulls 125+ FPS in HL2/Counter Strike: Source at 1680x1050 resolution, max settings.
