no they tased one of the bro's while there dad was being swept away out in the ocean. the cops tackled, hit, tased, and arrested the 2 boys and let their father die (i assume he is dead because he has yet to found).

im sure we know all of the facts... Would you rather he used pepper spray? Put yourself in a cops shoes for once - I'm sure it has to be terrifying to know that a lot of people dont like you and anyone they pull over (for example) could have a gun.

No not all cops are crooked there are good ones but it seems to me that when the police officer puts on there uniform there head swell up thinken that there all high an mighty an that there better than the rest of us....but if it was not for us joe smoes they would not have a paycheck thats what i think!!

Cops are better than the population... at least they should be. That's why we pay them to serve and protect.

Huh, I hadn't heard about that. KHSL (the tv station mentioned in the article) is based here in Chico, Humboldt is pretty much strait out to the coast from here.

On a whole I have nothing against cops, but stories like this just says to me that they are not making smart decisions more often than not. There was no reason to tase the kids; I can agree that they needed to be calmed down/restrained some so they didn't put themselves or others in danger, but tasing was not the answer. The cops should have been able to handle a high stress situation like that much, much better.

I side with the cops regarding the "wait for the boat" approach (cause I used to be a lifeguard), especially if the father was in the ocean; that is a dangerous situation that the cops would be more likely to be killed than not.

Everything they do protects you in one way or another. Maybe not directly but definitely indirectly. Nobody can protect you all of the time - if that were the case we'd have our own personal cop.

Of course.. if you read about all of the times that cops made good decisions or did good things you'd never finish it. Infowars is a fear mongering website. They manipulate figures and publish articles that are blown way out of proportion. What should the cop have done differently? spray, batton? Using a Taser isn't lethal... which... is why they're used.

Meh, they've never directly helped me in any time I've been in need. Looks like they just messed up and did the wrong thing. Yes they're human, but we give them alot of power and trust they'll do the right thing in all situations. Its their job.
