yea industrial drafting is a lot of little mechanical parts. my cousin and my roomate are in that right now and they just did a project on designing a door handle. they used cad to draft up their door handles and all the little mechanical pieces. then they imported it into the program solidworks and had them made on a 3D modeler.

these are some of my roomates drawings from other projects, not cad but it gives u the idea of I.D.

So do you have to be good at physically drawing? He just does blueprint stuff for buildings..

no not at all. he will probly give u sketches of parts and pieces and u will draft it up. as long as he gives u enough info and demensions of the parts u should be fine.

i took it in h/s and that was 6 years ago
so i cant remember much but it does require some math skill

The program is basically line drawings; albeit very complex line drawings.

Start with their tutorials; they help a lot. Since the commands are sometimes very specific, it is difficult to jump right in and start playing.

I remember making 3D drawings with AutoCAD...lol..good times. sorry Im a geek.

I just did this now...Oh how I miss it.

                          this is an old assignment

**warning...AutoCAD will give you numb bum...buy a comfy chair.

Its a fairly easy program to learn.
I wish i was down there, i need a job...

Ive done architectural commercial and residential work for 3 years.

If he wants you to do 3D modeling with AutoCAD it will take a little time...
but if your doing 2D work its alot easier and can catch on quicker...
