I joined the guard

yep, as of today, im enlisted in the kentucky army national guard. I never thought i would do it, and dont start calling me a crazy right wing republican baby killer, because im not. Im joining a unit that got called up once before, my roommate is in the same unit, and everyone around him, and including him says that we will most likely not get called up again. Hopefully bush doesnt go crazy, but you never know. also, im getting over 30k out of this deal, so its a pretty sweet set up. i leave for ft jackson on jan 11, and i go to ft lee for ait on march 28. when i get out, i plan on selling my b2 and looking for another cb7, as i just miss the old one way too much.

Good luck dude, Nat. Guard is the first to get called up for any planned occupations, because the are basically already a trained "police" force. Hopefully it won't happen to you, as most of the guard has already done their tours.

I heard people are already getting ready to do a seccond tour in iraq. My brother was already there for 15 months, hopefully he doesnt have to go back.

thanks man, and i dont think ill get called up, as my roommate is in the same unit and he said that they got called up last year and they just went down to ft campbell and watched the gate. he says that it would be unlikely to be called up again and have to leave, so lets hope hes right. also, i come out with over 40k in benefits from all this, so as long as i dont die, then i think it will all be worth it. grad school will be paid for.
loans paid off.
about 650 a month during school, so i wont have to work as much.
free tuition.
8k sign on bonus.
i think im doing well amongst all this.
and hey, i plan on getting another cb7 with this money, so dont hate on me too much.
