This thought just occurred to me...

Ok... so the Geto Boys' "Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta" has become an anthem for Obama's presidency... The song was released in 1992, when Obama was 31 years old. Just 2 years older than me, and I am currently listening to and enjoying the Geto Boys at the moment. So, conceivably... our president also listened to and enjoyed the Geto Boys.

One would assume that he has some interest in some kind of music.

Yeah, but I, for one, generally assume "old people" like "old people" music. He's not even 50 yet, so what I consider to be fairly modern music has been around since he was younger than me (basically, 80s New Wave and beyond is what I consider "modern"... 70s Classic Rock and R&B are "old music" to me)

                    It's just weird to me.

Hell, in 6 years, I'll be old enough to run for president myself!

I was just considering that it could have been the grassroots campaign people who did it. It is possible, he had nothing to do with it.

I never said he had anything to do with the song itself. I'm 100% certain he did NOT choose to associate himself with "gangstas" for his campaign... as "gangstas" aren't generally the majority of active voters in the US.

I'm simply saying that the association of that song brought forth the realization that Obama is of an age where he may have been into such music. Being in his late 20s and early 30s in the dawn of mainstream hip-hop, it's VERY possible... and I find it interesting (and no, it has nothing to do with him being black, though that does increase the liklihood somewhat, since rap and hip-hop are generally considered to be part of black American culture)

                              I misunderstood.

It is possible he liked Tupac, Biggie, Warren G and all the other hip hop that was actually good.
