    Should I get this?

I didn't know where this is supposed to go.

I found a 93 Accord. It's an Automatic, which isn't what I wanted. I prefer 5 speed, but can't have everything nowdays! I believe it's an LX from the wheels on it. I'm trading my 92 Ford Explorer for it cause I need something that gets better gas mileage.
Here is the ad for it.

"Green 4 door Honda Accord, reliable car, Great on gas of course.., runs good.., needs a new belt cause it screams when u start it. tires flat because of sittin so long but they can pumped right up. driver door handle is broke so door doesn't open but can easily be fixed, we would really love to keep the car but its just sittin and is going to eventually deteriorate. asking 1500 obo because we paid 1600 a year and a half ago and barely drove it."

A new belt is maybe $15 and same for the handle. So, that's not too bad. I am waiting on a reply with how many miles are on it. It's got a flat from sitting but they will have that fixed when I show up tomorrow. I'm praying it works out because my truck gets 15mpg and I'm in college right now and money is pretty tight.

Here are some pictures of the car. I asked for some interior pics and of the left side as well. We shall see.

Overall, the car could use a paint job from what I've seen so far, but I'm not to worried about that as of now.

Let me know what you think.

PS. the guy was asking $1500 and I was asking $1700 for mine. So, price wise it's not that bad.

You gotta ask yourself why its been sitting.......Why would they pay 1600 dollars for a car and not drive it

I wouldnt do it.....its one thing to have a car that eats gas....but works....and completely another to have one that gets mediocre gas mileage but could be full of problems

You also need to know what belt is screaming/does it need? That may also relate to why it was never driven. Is the hood dented as well? Yes the toys need to come out and interior pics taken. Beside the rust on the hood and passenger side you'll need to know whether its on the drives side and if so whether you really want to deal with it at that price.

Mileage, and maintanance records as well. If no records, are you planning on doing a full tune-up which could include a timing belt service??

the belt squealing could just mean that they need retensioning. however, the car doesn't look like it's worth $1500. i'd suggest to keep looking and hopefully you find something better and perhaps even 5 speed.

                K. Thanks for all the advice. I actually had a close friend advise me the same.

                Rock on. It's just hard to find a 5speed that's not $2000!
                I'll keep looking. Thanks guys.

I wouldn't purchase or trade for that car. Anything that screams and hasn't been driven long enough for the tires to fully deflate is probably junk.

you guys gotta remember, just because you got a car for cheaper in better condition, could vary greatly depending on your location. It sucks, but it's the truth. That being said, you can go from one extreme to the other on price range, in the same city.

SO, that car being 1500 in that condition is prolly what the area dictates. Not everyone in the country (or overseas) is so savvy about the price and condition balance, like we are. They just wanna sell it. They could careless if it has the super mad tyte JDM shizzle on it. Unless some asshole close friend tells them and says it's worth a lot. lol.

So, all in all, that could be the going rate in his area for a shitty car, whereas a good looking car would be way more. I know a guy i went to school with, bought a 93 se for 3K in Chicago. I was like wtf. He goes, i didn't care what condition the motor was in, i just needed the body to be super clean and it was. So it just depends where you go.

Yep. Some dealers are trying to sell them for 3K here. I think they are smoking something!!! I'm not gonna pay more that 2k for one. It's just hard to find one that's a 93 and 5 speed.

the tires are probably dry rotted for sitting like that for a year and a half OR have pretty bad flat spots. The belt squealing, yeah it could be a loose P/S or alt. belt but if it were that easy, they'd have it fixed by now.

And why would they buy it had make it sit for that long? That throws a red flag to me, prob. some major issue. I wouldn't pay more than 1000 for that, esp. considering the damage and rust on it.
