you're running that with an atom 1.6? What about the video requirement? Do you think it'd work on a 64mb shared card, 3ghz, 1gb ram? How would that OS impact games and other applications?
I was thinking an os that uses more system resources than XP would just starve these games/applications.
I am fairly familiar with Torrents I use them frequently for other things. how do you send me a Demonoid invite though I always use btjunkie and bit lord. I know I can get it through there Im just always worried about bad torrents
and I am almost always signed into either my aim acct or msn if you wanna hit me up on there

Well, I don't play games... never have, and this netbook is CERTAINLY not designed for gaming, so it would be pointless for me to benchmark or try any games on it. The Acer Aspire One does not have dedicated video memory, either, but I think it uses 32mb on the shared.
What kind of processor is the 3ghz? Id suggest at LEAST having 1.5 or 2 gb ram. at 1.5 it's not bad, but a little laggy only sometimes.
I run multiple firefox windows and tabs, play poker, play satellite radio and fuck around just fine with the OS with no hangups or errors.

This is a p4 3.06ghz with... 800mhz fsb... I think.
I'm willing to bet it'll run ok... but probably not great. I have a suspicion this OS likes multi-core processors, as thats the direction the industry has been heading for some time now.
I've been running RC7000 since it came out on a single core P4 3.0, with 4GB of RAM and haven't found lags to be a problem. That said, if I found a nice dual or quad core on the cheap, I'd totally buy it.

You'd have 4x more ram than me. I cant upgrade either - laptop @ max capacity. I'll keep XP till it dies and then I'll mess around maybe.

hey im running windows 7 PERFECTLY on my toughbook
its specs : 1.2 ghz Pentium M (p6 microarchitecture ftw!)
1.25 GB of RAM
32 or 64 mb graphics memory ( i think the 32 is dedicated; stupid intel graphics)
It runs it great, no hangs or annoying shit. If i have like 15 firefox open it slows down a bit. but the Pentium M is a champ.
Ive got a couple old P4 3 ghz gaming systems im selling for like 75 - 100 bucks (used them for lan party haha) they can play half life 2 at moderately high settings.
Then im going to build a dual core pentium III system haha. (P3 is the same design as all of the "core 2 duo" processors). oh and on a side note, Alot of early laptop and desktop systems were sold with "core single" processors. which enabled intel to sell dual core systems with a bad core as "single" alot of them just had the other core turned off! if i can find one cheap im going to get it...
I still have a bunch of demonoid invites.... just PM me, phempa you dont gotta give out all yours lol

Core 2 Duo is not Pentium III. It is based on a similar architechure concept as Pentium III, but is very much different in its specifics.
