well to be honest, ive never been the best at pickin cameras out, i was also thinkin bout gettin a fairly priced camcorder instead just to make some videos of stupid stuff while im bored in russia for 4 months
so lemme kno bout some camcorders too.. im not really tryin to spend more than 5
and as for the features.. i want a good megapixel rating, and a just all around good cam..sorry about the vagueness,,
            help if u can, thanks

yep, ive been shooting with an canon powershot s30 for a couple years now. I really like this camera for what its worth, but its only a matter of time before i upgrade to a canon Digital SLR. Anyway, I really like Canon, but you could choose any of the decent brands and you wont really notice a difference if your just entering the market. 3-4 megapixels is probably more than enough if your not printing, anything larger just starts consuming valuable hard drive space. Get something with a li-Ion battery, a must. Ask yourself what will you be using the camera for, point and shoot or some more experimental stuff where you want to control ISO, Aperture, Shutter, etc, maybe not now but in a few months you may have wished you had gotten extra features. The price of decent digicam these days is pretty low, so spending 300 USD will get you something with nice with a few extra features. Powershot A60 and up are good cameras for the price, however i dont believe they come with a rechargable battery...

i have a kodak ls753(5mp) i havent done much with it yet, but it takes great pics and i love the video option. itll take hq 640x480 video w/audio and there's no time restrictions except the available space on my card. most cameras ive seen cutoff at 3min, or something like that.

I would also reccomend the cannon powershot series of cameras. They are point and shoot, there is a manual mode where you can control quite a bit of stuff. I have an sd100, parents did have the orig. s200. They are very small, and fit in your pocket nicely, have a metal case(a must for me dropping everything). I have been happy with mine so far, although i am kinda itching for a nice SLR camera someday.

try www.epinions.com to get specs on cameras your looking at, reviews, and the cheapest price online.
