    if your trying to build muscle you do .8 to 1 gram of protein for every pound you are.

    sooo 170lbs take 170 grams.....

    PS TO OP your gonna drop some weight at first cause your body is in shock a bit. So it burns off alot. Try eating more though.

      Getting big is super simple.

      Whatever you weigh, eat AT LEAST that many grams of protein. If you're 100#, eat 100g of protein.

      Learn and base your workout around compound lifts. Squats, deadlift, bench. Look up the Madcow workout.

      Figure out how many calories you need to survive, and add 10% to your daily consumption. A rough # is just to multiply your weight in pounds by like 16-17. So you need 1700 cals/day to survive. 1 calorie of protein or carbs is 4g, 1 calorie of fat is 9g. A good split for calories is maybe 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat. So for you, 212g protein, 128g of carbs, 37g of fat. Use a site like fitday.com to build a daily diet and go from there.

      Supplements are OK if you know how to use them. I recommend whey protein (just cause meat's expensive), creatine (stocks ur muscle reserves, is safe), and multivitamins (u need nutrients).

      And stick with it. Be consistent.
