Do you have an aftermarket sound card? If so then you need to download the driver from the website.
Or if it the stock sound card, go to the website of you computer, depending what brand it is. If its dell or hp etc then go those websites, and download the sound card driver, that should solve the problem.

Sounds like you just need to reinstall the drivers for your computer weather its by creative,realtek or some other company

Windows 7 is supposed to be better... I'll wait and see. It took me a while to accept XP. I'll NEVER accept Vista. I have an $800 laptop that I never use because it runs that cursed OS.
