does anyone know where you can purchase a non vtec f22a, not through private sales. i want something with decent mileage, not the "well i think it has 120,XXX miles" and the motor was raped its whole life.

You're asking where to purchase a 17-20 year old motor in great shape, and with low miles?
Any motor that old with very low miles has probably sat untouched for years... meaning it'd be in worse condition than one with 200k on it.
If you want an F22A in good condition, with ZERO miles... do a full rebuild. Otherwise, you're left with old motors from old cars... many of which may or may not have been taken care of.
As for JDM motors... many of them DO have 35-45k on them. Why? Because after a certain amount of time and mileage, these cars cost much more to keep in Japan. Older cars are taxed. People often buy new when their cars have gone that far. If it takes a Japanese driver 6 years to get 35,000 miles on their car... then the 1993 engine that you're buying has probably been sitting somewhere, undriven, since 1999.

im sorry but that statement is completely false.. the f22 is a very desireable motor its just to gain the horsepower and tq everyone wants its just cheaper to swap in a h22 (talking getting the same hp as just swapping in a h22)Originally posted by h22pwrcb7 View Postwell i dont mean to say finding like a crown jewel but, like is there any sites that actually sell this engine? besides a d15 nonvtec the f22 as far as it seems to me is just as undesireable. You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.

Actually, his statement is generally true. The F22 may have great potential, but the perception of a large whole of the Honda community is that it is worthless.Originally posted by buckysaccord93 View Postim sorry but that statement is completely false.. the f22 is a very desireable motor its just to gain the horsepower and tq everyone wants its just cheaper to swap in a h22 (talking getting the same hp as just swapping in a h22)Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.

it is true.. I can buy a f22 for $50 all day.. I can find them for free.. I gave one away a couple months ago... They don't have a demand. So you wont find alot of websites pushing them or selling them as he said. Yes they do have potential.. But with money everything has potential.

Thats the truth. Thats why around me theres a couple of RB26 swapped 240sx's. They got the swaps done for under 2 grand.Originally posted by deevergote View PostAs for JDM motors... many of them DO have 35-45k on them. Why? im actually trying to look for f22 heads for cores lol.
personally, the only other way would be to go JDM. if you need to keep it usdm for smog purposes, id suggest getting the bottom end rebuilt and slapping a good head on. Yea, you will need to do some of the work yourself but in the end, you'll have a freshened up motor that will run really good.
as far as the seals on jdm engines is pretty much false. the seals on my dad's lexus es300 which is a JDM were perfect. doesnt leak a drop. age does kill seals but it isnt worse than heat.

yea the accord i bought is completely stock in all ways including the f22a1 but there is a huge gaping hole in the block from where a rod was thrown. and the person who had it before me was trying to remove the head and got down to one head bolt and completely rounded it so the motor is screwed. for budget purposes i was thinking a f22a so i can turbo it later since the cylinder walls are stronger than the h22a but on the other hand i wanna put a h22a in it cuz i didnt in the one i drive now and i want to know i did it all the right way with this car. and i only make 1400 a month
