Yes this is a very good reason to be running a blow-proof bellhousing.

Wow. That piece that cut through the floor could've killed him. Lucky!

How was that due to a prior accident? I didn't quite understand that last part...

I believe there refering to the reason the car was declared a total loss.

But WOW! That's unbelievable. Deffinatly a once in a lifetime thing.

I've had a pressure plate break before, it wasnt anything special, destroyed everything inside except the flywheel, but it stayed inside. Thats just nuts

That is crazy. Never seen anything like that before. He's so lucky he and the others around him didn't get hit by any of the pieces. Can you imagine the damage that would cause to someones body. OUCH!

Found a comment on youtube where the owner explains the prior accident.

The car was rear ended 2 months before this. It damaged the rear end and bent the driveshaft.

Insurance only covered it because it was possible that the impact from the accident compromised the integrity of the trans and/or the clutch assembly. They know exactly what equipment I have in the car and that the clutch was supposed to be adequate for the engine's power level. So it didn't matter that it happened when I was screwing around, the clutch should have held, period.
The guy has the right attitude too

Oh and the best part is that I had never done a burnout on the street with that car, only at the drag strip. So the one time I decided to act like a teenager with it, this happened. I was going to pull the car straight from here into the bay at the tire shop next door to get new rears put on and asked the guys if we should finish them off before their disposal. Only to me would this happen. But I'm glad the rest of the world can laugh at it. And I do thank God no one was hurt.

just remember the direction of the shrapnel depends on drivetrain layout
