Firefox users - Speed up your browser!

Those of you using Mozilla Firefox to browse here is a sure way to make your browsing more pleasurable and speed up Firefox.

    It really works.

    How To Speed Up Firefox:

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about :config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

I would like to state that the network.http.pipelining.maxrequests number of 30 is just an example. The number that may help you best attain your sweet spot will vary based on the speed of your connection. To large a number may cause perceived latency. Also there was some concern over this increasing server loads, but this should not be a problem usually (1 page served is still 1 page served). The exception is if people have frequent disconnects from your site, then the process of pipelining everything simultaneously can be a little more costly.

Give it a try-- you'll like it!

I'm sure it won't come up, but aren't multiple requests in a short period of time from one ip considered a denial of service attack? I'm confident the firefox guys know what they're doing though, so don't worry about it..

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

From what I have talked to others about it this, it sort of depends on how your connection already moves. Mine crawls on Firefox (or did anyways) and a lot do, so this kinda helps with that. Others are already running optimally(sp?) so there is no need for the changes.
