I are stupid :( (ticket help)

Ok so I just got cited for squealing tires. I was being stupid and chirped the tires for no reason, not noticing the cop 2 cars behind me. So I know I'm totaly guilty, and I admit to it.

My question is should I just pay up the ticket, or should I go to my court date and try to request traffic school or deferred probation? My record is clean as could be. I just really don't want the points or the ticket on my record. (insurance ect.)

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Go to court. And the worst they are going to tell you is that your clean record has now been tarnished and you will get the fine reduced.

I save my traffic school option for really big speeding tickets.

If I go to court though, will I be charged court fees?

go to the court date and go early try to see the prosecutor and ask him if there is anything you can do to help lower the ticket or fine..... tell him about your clean record. Almost all tickets are lowered to something else.

yes prolly about 25-35 bucks court fees

pays off if they drop points for insurance and if they lower the fine....

false.......your first court date is just entering a plea of guilty or not guilty the cop doesnt have to be present... if you want to fight it a court date will be scheduled and the cop will be notified. Also if the cop doesnt show up to that date the judge can just reschedule the hearing for another date.

When I lived in Ontario and your court date was scheduled, it was for that 1 day, and you would go and see the crown to discuss your case before seeing the judge. If the officer was not present by the time you got to see the judge, the charge was automatically dropped all together or reduced.

i gusse it depends on the state you live in. In maryland thats how it works. My brother got out of a ticket by that although he knew he was at fault.

                        idk about Canada

i did just read maryland law statues and they also do the same setup as Jersey with a primary hearing first that the cop is not needed then moving to a trial court date where the cop has to show or it will be dropped and a motion of continuance was not allowed. Although looking at the way they set up the court dates it would be likely that the cop might not show up for a trial date
