School Fail

So I have been in School trying to get my AAS degree in Automotive Collision Tech. I managed to get Financial Aid for the few classes I had remaining for the final credits! I had planned on graduating in June actually.


Things have been going amazingly well for me this school year. I managed to land a sweet job with the work study program and I was making pretty decent tax free money. Plus I was getting to work out almost every day.

Well today that all changed. I got a letter from the financial aid office telling me that I had been suspended from the program with ZERO CHANCE TO APPEAL.

That is how it was written too. So, enraged, I called the school and demanded to know how in the FUCK this could possibly happen given I had maintained a 3.6 GPA almost my entire year. I got one Non credit grade, but that has no negative effect on GPA.

This stuck up ass bitch tells me that back in 2005 I failed a class that I PAID FOR, and that there was another time that same year, where something similar had happened.

so basically 5 years ago, a different version of me was an irresponsible jackass and fucked himself out of degree. Yay. Im not sure what to do here. If anyone has had a similar experience let me know.

sounds like my VA problems. i went to school. they paid me. then when i was done with that semester, a few months later they tell me they payed me too much. so now they say i owe them money. then they said they would take it out of my taxes/tax return. i got my return in full. its not the first time they have fucked up either

zero chance of appeal is bullshit. Call everyone and don't stop calling them. Don't let them tell you no. The trick is finding and talking to the right person. If this happend today though, don't start calling today. Give it the weekend so you can cool your jets a little, then calmly but firmly approach everyone in financial aid, the deans office, admissions and so on. Finally, BE POLITE. Nothing makes people not want to help you more than a rude, screaming jackass on the phone, no matter how legit his reasons. And visit everyone in person.

Are you building on the courses you took previously, or did you start from the beginning again with this? If you started fresh, then your previous grades should have NO bearing... Honestly, if your previous grades made you ineligible for aid, why did they give it to you in the first place?

And yes, Masamune is 100% correct... be polite, but persistent. Don't let them tell you no, and make it hard for them to do so.

Little update on this.
I wouldnt let this go, I called a Lawyer, had all kinds of people talk to the dean, and
all that happend was me being escorted off school grounds.
So in the fall I will just pay for my last class.

i hear you about not being able to afford shit, ASU's charging me close to 1400 bucks for ONE summer class. I really wish FAFSA would kick in for the summer, b/c I really need this class as a pre-req for the classes I'm taking in the fall of 2010.

I hate how they fucking charge that much when a community college charges 70 bucks per credit hour for the same thing...I already tried looking for that as well....its all full. I hope you figure shit out though, just like I need to school wise.
