    231gb?

    whats up guys.

my computer is sucking my dick.

    here is the deal.

i bought this toshiba satellite laptop 2 years ago and have had no problems with it.

i have 13GB of music and some random pictures here and there. My Computer is telling me that i only have 720mb left.

I checked my programs, and I have nothing but the normal programs. Nothing crazy is downloaded. No games, nothing.

    Maybe I have a virus?

I have Free AVG but it is saying i have too little memory to perform a scan. so there is my catch 22.

    any ideas?

    Andy

Could have one of those viruses that multiplies until every byte is used up. You gotta find it and there almost impossible to get rid of.

Hmm... Try a disk cleanup. Go to start>progams>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup for xp or if you have vista, just type disk cleanup in the start menu.

Your system could be full of old restore points or temp files and disk cleanup should take care of them.

If that doesn't change anything you may want to open command prompt and run a check disk to see if maybe something got damaged causing the drive to seem small. To do this on xp go to start>run, then type cmd in the run window and click run. Vista, just type cmd in the box on the start menu and click cmd in the search box.

Once the prompt opens, type chkdsk /r. It will say the drive needs unlocked to do this and ask if you want to schedule one for the next boot. Hit Y and restart the computer. It will now run a check disk before starting windows. The check may take some time (30min to several hours), so be patient with it.

Whats the model # of your laptop? I can look up specs on it and find some more out about it.

            See my sig.

Also, try a program called WinDirStat to locate all your large files. Run it, look for large blocks, mouse over them and it'll tell you what files are taking up space and so on.
            Fix your Computer!
