i guess a few years back we had alot of uncharted territories...topmount 500whp cb7 doesnt phase me anymore.. 3-5yrs ago.. id would of shit a brick.. and slipped on it (lol)..

hybrid motors are still a common debate between me and mike (kompressor en tu culo mamao)

dsm setups are the new (bolt on) or atleast have been for a while

and things like f20a motors.. pt2 ecus.. and flushmounts.. arnt rare anymore.. everyones had em.. or there being replicated(flushmounts)

itll be interesting to see whose still here in the next 5yrs.. or hell.. till the end of this year...

Most of the old-school guys have moved onto different cars. Or they're not as ambitious to post every little update like we were back in the day.

That's true. Occasionally I'll stumble upon a build and think "where the hell did THIS come from?!" We actually have some really amazing projects going on that just aren't shared like they were back in the day.

Back in 2003, we were all discovering this stuff together. Now, the oldschool guys know it all. The newer oldschool guys got all their information from the oldschool guys here. The newschool guys are't discovering new things, at least not nearly as much as back in the old days.

When the J swap happens, we'll see a few more interesting tech posts.

this is not new but i tend to look at that thread because of the absence of the projects that people used to do around here. i wished i could have the time to do something like that.

I was in the scene five years ago...
I will still be here in five years.

I feel so out there with some of the stuff I'm doing though...

I guess I'm just having a hard time relating due to the lack of posts and whatnot... and most of this stuff are things that I'm picking up from before I left years ago.... So I feel like it's nothing new. Honestly surprised no one has done some of these things.... I know some have done similar but... Yeah.

I also feel like things around here have changed and I haven't changed with them I guess. I will just finish the things i want to do and share what I can I guess. I just miss the enthusiasm and I was inspired by the creativity back in the day. People are kinda snooty now.. Like they've paid their dues so they don't have to give back at all... I remember when certain MODS were green newbs... and they've risen... and now don't have the best vibe towards the current newbs... Keeping info and whatnot...

Like Carlos says... there is so much more left to do. Lets share ideas... here in this thread if no where else... we can all still be impressed by each other's out there ideas...because many are sound in theory and need to be tried to be proved... even if not by you... give up the idea for the betterment of the community...

If it takes crazy ass builds like 88x88 blocks or Hyabusa ITBs to wet your technical whistle then I think you've taken interested in the wrong platform and engine.

Sure, there are guys like Bisi that have done some incredible things with the F22. Still, that doesn't change the fact that he's one of the only truly technical guys doing big things with that engine. At this point, the F is never going to reach even the level the B or H had even 10 years ago.

Truth is, people just don't build CBs/F22s to the same level as DCs/EKs/DAs/ect. People buy CB's because they are cheap, they don't build them because there is a relatively small market for parts, and because they don't attract the same amount of attention as other chassis. How many import enthusiasts after building one car decide to come to the CB chassis? Pretty much none, and that's because they recognize the potential for individuality is so much harder than with other chassis.

But that doesn't mean you have to be unsatisfied with the technical projects going on. Look at the Explicit Speed Performance traction bar. That is an incredible product that has been developed. Sure, it's no 1000+ whp 30+PSI turbocharged monster of an engine, but it's something that's groundbreaking for our chassis.

                Bullshit.

                Plain and simple.

That is exactly what they were saying about B18's and B16's...

I guess naysayers are naysayers are naysayers....

I will not accept that. You can give up if you like but I will not. Bisi is not the end all be all of F series and what can be done. Give me a break.

Sounds like everybody has given up... and they are okay with that. Fair enough... but please admit it.

We have some creative stuff happening... it's just diffused more, since we have thousands of active members, rather than hundreds (and we're dealing with a poorer crowd now... people don't realize the potential of the old F22A!)

I do a lot of naysaying in the Beginner Forums when it comes to things like frankenstein motors, cheap forced induction setups, etc... Not really to say you CAN'T do it... but to challenge people to prove me wrong.

Wikked will fight me tooth and nail in favor of franks... and I respect him for it. I don't like the idea, but that doesn't mean someone can't prove to me that they CAN be made into something worthwhile.

People are generally afraid to take risks anymore. It will change.

Agreed. There was a discussion about something similar in another post not too long ago. The threads just aren't what they used to be.

As far as tech posting goes, its hardly there anymore. I used to browse and post in those areas especially when I just started and wanted to contribute as much knowledge as I could. Now it's different though, times have changed and this forum is no exception. Now I find myself in the OT since I can't stand the other threads anymore

                    ...adjust accordingly

                      are you angry at us?

I honestly have no more interest in the cb7 chassis....but building the f22a is fun. which gives me hopes for other projects and i like the "big blocks" of hondas. i just like driving the accord around because i already have it and it is already paid off.

Ok, what in the world do you want to see then? Would simple engine rebuilds be enough or do you want full blown builds that feature many, expensive, custom parts?

I admire your faithfulness to this platform but you have to be realistic. People with big boy budgets don't (for the most part) screw around with mid-sized family sedans from the early 90's. Sure, there is a ton that they could do with one but when they realize that they have far greater options for cheaper, better looking, more powerful setups what do you think they are going to spring for?

You may call it giving up, but I see it as growing up. I'm pretty sure that once I'm in my career and have a stable family and home I'm not going to be fucking around with my wagon. People grow up and get new hobbies and new cars. Giving up would be something like if Cisco all of a sudden decided to part out his White Project. Not building a CB and instead buying a TL isn't giving up.

There's a difference between people who play with what they have, or people that play with something they actually have a passion for. I actually have a passion for this car.

A few weeks ago, I nearly bought an R32 GTR. I decided not to, because it's still an old car, and won't be cheap to insure or repair.
                          I'm saving for a CTS-V.

Regardless, whatever I get will STILL not replace the CB7. I've grown up, but I still love this car.

I agree it is just a Skyline. But to Mike it was a dream. Plus it would've looked great next to the Evo. lol
