Miatas are hardly "chick cars". They're some of the most capable road race cars sold in the US. For the price, they're probably the best bargain you can get!
I honestly didn't know they ever made automatic Miatas... stupid, IMO!
That is gorgeous, though. I'm not a fan of the peanut butter interior.

A boosted miata will embarrass z06s on the track. a track prepped miata will push most cars through the twistys. If I didn't own an ap1, I would buy a couple of miatas and race the crap out of them!
That is too nice/expensive of a miata to make into a track beast though. With that amount of cash you can build a turbo miata and have a couple spare 1.6L swaps on the side! But, it is a beauty!'92 LX.

Probably because it's small, and looks wimpy. There's nothing to it. it's a little Tylenol on wheels. The funny thing is that the British roadsters that it sought to imitate (and it did... and even surpassed them) were never considered chick cars, as far as I know.
I got to drive a 5.0 powered miata about 15 feet at the last meet I went to
I would totally drive a Miata. When I'm thinking about a new car, that is ALWAYS something that comes to mind. Once I stop driving for a living, the Fit may give way to a Miata.
BMW's Z3 was actually made for the purpose of competing with the Miata. When BMW creates a car to compete with you, you know you're doing something right! (now the Z3 I consider a chick car, or a midlife crisis car... it has never really taken hold as a racer... the regular 3 series does too well for that)
