    house or car??

soo i got a job makin a nice check for me and the wife is also makin some money too. together we will make about 50k. we are lookin at either getting a house (modular home) or a preowned car (in the 20k range).

we it comes to the house we already have land from my parents. for the car we could have it paid of in under 2 years if we wanted to. the homes we have seen and want are between 60-80k after built and furnished.....

just looking for some other views and points. we are gonna be looking at homes next weekend but we are always on the prowl for cars.

I don't know if it is universal throughout the country but here modular or pre manufactured houses lose value as they age.. So you would be losing money anyways... Less with choosing the house over the car of course though.

HOw the fuck is this even a question.....hmmmm...buy a house that can give me equity and years of enjoyment and is a GOOD investment....or buy a car that will give me a couple years of enjoyment and will only depreciate in value.....tough choice.....didnt read the modular part....but here that really doesnt make that big of a difference in the value....it wont depreciate anyways

ONLY buy the house if you have steady work and its gonna be steady for years to come though....If you are only buying cuz you can now but arent sure about it dont do it....a house isnt a spur of the moment thing and you dont want to be in the position sooooooo many other people were in when everything shit the bed.

not like a double wide or trailor.... its got a slab/foundation and what not. they are very popular in this area and still resale for a nice chunk of change.

for me its not spur of the moment i have always been lookin for something for a while before marriage and before the little guy came along. but with a joint income it would get paid off quicker so i wouldnt get a new butthole from interest.

BOTH! If you can afford it. Im in the same boat as you at this moment, although its kind of tough getting a house since Im trying to get one back home in PR, and Im unable to fly back and forth due to work (military). My first home will be a rental property for investment, so...

How is this even a question? house man. Even a modular/mobile home will outlast the car...especially ones built today, they are built much much better than before. 10 years is the absolute max age of a modular/mobile home I would get...I speak from first hand rebuilding exp.

Also, you can not live comfortably in a car.

Now...neither a modular/mobile home nor a car rises in value...both lose value...but again...you can not live nicely in a car, and while neither gains value, the house will resale more closely to what you bought then a car every will.

You are wasting your money buying a brand new car anyway.

Yeah it all depends really i say. A mod home looses value over time, they arent like regular houses but shit i would sit down and make a cons and pros list. Then I would see how much $$ your putting into your current house/apartment compared to the new car/house. The results could be interesting.
