    DirectTV vs Dishnetwork

    which do you guys recommend?

to put it simple Im tired of comcasts (cable) service. seems like every other day it goes out, same as the internet (same company). also Ive noticed more & more channels getting deleted. plus. I hate how you have to get a "package" deal with them. that brings more stuff than you use. so Im thinking of changing the service provider.

also do they provide internet too?

Both companies are good. You'll have to compare both about what channels they have that you want in each package...

I think Dish has the cheapest basic which has most of the good channels. (Comedy Central, Cartoon network, Discovery, Spike, ect.)

One big thing though is if you have cable internet, satellite internet is a large do not want. Satellite internet is super expensive (like $60+/month) and is pretty slow with usage caps.

I'd say look into getting DSL for internet, and which ever satellite provider has the channels you want for the cheapest.

Maybe you could check out AT&T's U-verse and dsl if you want a package type deal?

I think if I were to get satellite, I'd probably go with Dish. They have a multi-tv tuner, so you can have 1 tuner for all the tv's in your house, which I think would be sweet.

I used to have Charter cable internet, and last summer, it seemed like ANY time the temp got over 70 degrees in the summer, I lost my internet. Which a lot of times, it was still 70 at midnight here. I was having technicians coming out 3 to 4 times a week, everything would work for about an hour after they left, after that, nothing, but I was still getting charged for it, the person I talked to on the phone for the last time said, and I'm not joking, she said "we have to keep charging you, and can't give you any discounts until your service works, so, when it starts working for more than a day or 2, call us and we'll check everything on our end to get you the discounts you deserve" which never fucking happened.

I have DirecTV for TV, but not internet. I'm very happy with the service and the customer service has been good too.

i've had both so far, went back to comcast now. gotta say honestly i don't like either compared to cable, but that's my personal experience. IF i had to choose one or the other, i'd say Dish, because of their HD incentives.

                  life is good.

That it is. And it seems like EVERY time you turn around, they keep raising the fucking price, but you don't get anymore features. Charter is complete shit

We just had to downgrade from all the movie channels to basic with on demand cause it got to where we were paying $220 a month... Now its $120 for something that should be $60.

ok I looked at the cheapest plans...

for dishnetwork I was looking at theyre top 120 deal. thats 120 channels for 40$

it has a receiver fee of 14$, plus a 99$ activation fee with 13$ tax.

so to get it it would be 166$ & then 40$ per month according to what it said

                        ------------------------------------------------------------------------

while for directTV its 150 channels for 30$ till 2011. then its 60$ after that. its really 60$ per month, just that that they give you a 30$ discount for 12 months (if you do some thing online).

but theres also fees. like 5$ per receiver. & I need 4 so add 20$. also theres showtime channels fee & thats 13$ (but they dont charge it till the 4th month also give a 2$ stupid discount ).

so total is 86$ (58$ for the 1st year). but if I remove the showtime channels is 87$ (44 for the 1st year)
                        -------------------------------------------------------------------------

with my current comcast plan its 90 for basic extended cable with phone & highspeed net

                        -------------------------------------------------------------------------
