    Best cartoons?

I'm a big cartoon fan. Always have been. I hate all the reality garbage we have on TV now. I'd much rather have something animated. Something that really takes you AWAY from reality!

Anyway, I just started watching Hey Arnold! on Netflix. I've always watched this show when I came across it on Nickelodeon (though I wasn't aware that it ran for 8 years!)
Honestly, I've always loved it. It's probably one of the best cartoons ever. The setting is surreal, the characters are consistent and well developed, the storylines are always interesting. It's not a very kiddish show in most cases. To me, it's more of a nostalgic look back at childhood, through the eyes of a fairly adult-like child.
That, and the opening song is a fantastic piece of music!

I'm curious about what the other cartoon fans here like.
Please keep anime out of this conversation, though. I'm an anime fan myself, but if we go in that direction, it'll dominate the conversation!

i like the old school stuff.. angry beavers, rockos modern life..etc. But of course i love a good old tom and jerry.

But hey arnold is a good cartoon. another "childrens cartoon" i like is fanboy and chum chum haha its new cartoon but its good
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet

I prefer the old school classic cartoons like bugs bunny, daffy duck, elmer fudd, but now there practically non-exsistant or watered down. reason being some wuss determined that these cartoons were to violent for children and influences them to commit violent acts. I'm sorry, I watched elmer fudd blow daffy duck bill off numerous times with a shot gun, and never once did I ever get the notion to grab my grandfathers shot gun and blow my lil brothers face off just to see what would happen.

I totally agree with Doug. Hell, I WAS Doug growing up! I even liked a girl named Patty.

Another would be Batman: The Animated Series. Quite possibly the finest depiction of Batman outside of the comic books.

That's true. They removed a lot of the stuff from the old cartoons... Many of them not only contained lots of violence, but there were also some social depictions that are no longer acceptable today. Also, many of the jokes were based on the time period... and kids today (hell, kids in my day!) don't get many of those references.

tom and jerry is very good, i wish i could watch some looney toons, growing up i liked winnie the pooh, darkwing duck, chip and dale rescue rangers. Classic Scooby Doo, not any of the new ones, they dumb down ALOT of cartoons now of days, an it realy makes them very unenjoyable to watch in my opinion.

There are plenty others, but Sponge Bob is perhaps my second favorite all time behind Rugrats. Nickolodeon knows all the good cartoons to produce, the Mighty Bee is not bad. Tak and the Power of JuJu has its good points. nick cartoons tend to apeal to a very broad audience so that the whole family can enjoy one show all together. it has almost allways been that way, as far as i can remember.

i know it is kindof anime, but its a CLASSIC, old school astroboy, and the new one is VERY VERY good. the first global superhero on TV

I have personnally never found myself hating deevergote, but damn him for baning anime out of the conversation. They are truly the best shit to watch for young adults! but it is quite understandable, it is kinda of its own class of programming.

i love cartoons, it is one of my dreams to one day produce a cartoon; might not happen as i am switching my multimedia major for engineering. next semester.

I totally forgot about the damn Simpsons, that would be the best one ever. I will stop there because that cartoon ushered in the another class of cartoons, including south park; family guy; american dad. All very good, but certainly not related to the original discussion

anybody remember Pink Panther shorts? Awesome!

I love anime as well... but the past anime threads we've had have become pretty focused... and we'd totally lose all focus on non-anime cartoons!

I need to find another good anime, actually... feel free to make a thread to talk about it if you want!

honestly, besides spongebob, all i watch is phineas and ferb. that show is hilariously predictable and too smart to be a kids show. other than that, my monday nights are devoted to adventure time with finn and jake.

i think i will look through the old ones and maybe pick one to revive, no use starting a new one when the old ones might have very good info already provided.

but if i were to suggest anything, go with Astroboy from the 2000's. it is completed, and i think it is very good: (for a revival of a 60's world popular superhero). One Piece is currently my favorite

tonylx87 has a very fine list and he included Tale Spin!!! inspector gadget is great, but when i rewatched it 4 months ago i was not enjoying it as much as i did as a kid. but it was still great to watch.

i will be rewatching Heman; Masters of the Universe soon, i am not sure how i will like it, but i remember loving it as a kid
