    Japanese Playstation 2

does anyone own a japanese playtion 2? if you do what games do you have and what did you think of them?
i bought one recently and i only have two games for it so far. Drift Champ and Touge 3. both are racing games where drift is the key to winning. Drift Champ is a quest game, more so than Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, you start off at school with no knowledge of racing or drifting. i think? cant read or understand japanese so i dont totally know what is going on. then your brother gives you a car and it all begins, eventually you move to california for school and end up getting a S13 silvia. Drift Champ is pretty fun but the quest is really long, most of it is people talking, but the racing is fun. great two player game.
Touge 3 is more of a gran turismo style drift game. easy at first then becomes really hard cuz you cant hit the walls or the cars your racing against, once again a great two player game. Touge 3 is much like Initial D "Legend of the Streets". if anyone has played the initial d game on the Jap. PS2 then you prolly loved it but did not understand why there isnt a 2 player aspect to it. well if anyone is like me, playing the computer gets old and then 2 player is the way to go, try Touge 3. not hard to learn and enjoy, just a pain in the.......to beat.

JDM PS2 works fine cause it is NTSC, the only difference from USDM PS2 is the power cord where it attached to the PS2. the JDM one is rounded off on both sides the USDM one is rounded on one side, but no the other. i think europe is the only PAL area.
it isnt longer in the sense of how many guys you have to beat and then waiting for the right day to do so, or time of day. the long part is sitting through the dialogue between your character and his friends, rivals, classmates, brother, and about 15 other people. from the beginnning your sitting there hitting the circle button for about thirty minutes before you get to a save point. then its another 15 before your first ride in a car. then finally you get a car of your own, then you practice your time on the local mountain course. then its back to the dialogue, then your racing, then its back to the dialogue. the worst is the beginning and end of each chapter, or stage of the game. ive only made it to the second chapter, but i dont think there is any more after it. honestly the game is fun, driving is a cross between Tokyo Extreme Racer and Auto Modellista. leaning more toward Auto Modellista. cars get loose really easy.

the only thing you have to get used to is that in Japan they use the Circle button the way USDM uses the X button.

did u mod ur ps2 urself? how many other ppl here are into modding?

i started with my PSX, its in a smoked grey case and its chipped, plays all burned games. did like 3 or 4 more for friends.

now im mastering xbox modding- ive done 4 complete mods. including large hard drive + copies of 20+ games and hundreds of emulators that ALL run off the hard drive, no discs needed... also its been sparkley spray painted silver.

            modding is so fun

Both my ps2 and xbox is modded. I never heard of those games, they sound like fun. That dialogue you mentioned may piss me off though. A game you may like is called Kaido Battle. It came out about 7-8 months ago and i just found out it is comming to the US. Its made by the same people that made Tokyo Extreme Racer. In the day you compete in drift competions and in the night you do it illegal by finding people in the parking lot. It retains most of the modifing as Tokyo Extreme Racer and has more fun blazing down the mountain passes.

Kaido Battle looks very much like Touge 3.... does it get to a point where you cant hit the walls or your opponent or you automatically lose? thats the part i hate about Touge 3. also heard that tokyo extreme racer zero 2 is to be released within the week in the states and selling for $20. dreams do come true

It depends how far the cpu is. If its neck and neck you wont lose but once they are about 2 car lenghts or so you lose.

does the cpu get 2 cars ahead easily or do i have to miss the right line on alot of the turns?

It depends on the car but I normally have to enter the corner wrong for them to get that far. Also your tires and brakes wear out faster on heavier cars.
