I hate algebra, cannot figure this out

how do i figure out X when i have a fraction?

on the left i have negative (x over 11) is equal to (1 over 26)

I would try to type out the equation but the forum keeps moving the characters too far to the left.

if i crossed multiplied like you said to, i got 26x = -11

        if i divided the -11 by 26 then i got -0.423076923

I believe you fellows, don't know how to properly cross multiply. There won't be any negative answers in this problem. The answer is 26/11 which is what you figured out, just without the negative. Here is a link to explain further. http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/cross-multiply.html

well i plugged in 26/11 to check my answer and it came out unequaly. if i plugged in 11/26 it came out equal but only if i ignored the negative sign.

what should i do with the negative sign?

If x/11=1/26, there's no way it can be negative.

To the OP, cross multiply and get:

                        I personally see it as:

I guess nobody saw where he said "negative" in the first post.
EDIT: Just so you're aware of it, that's the answer to -x. Equivalent to x = -.423

My brother was saying it couldn't have been negative either but that is what the website said it was after grading it and giving me the correct answers.

Actually i got cheated on several other answers as well.

Used this site to pretty much cheat my way through my college algebra class. Shit is hard, I'm glad I got it over with.
