OMG i had some art history class last semester. Easily the worst subject ever. I had to remember all the pictures and artist and dates. It sounds easy but when they all look the same it gets pretty rough.

You know I had the same problem when I took art appreciation a few years ago. I absolutely hated it, now I wish I would have payed more attention. I think your professor can either make it enjoyable, or miserable. Most of it is boring, but it can be interesting if you approach it with an open mind. I didn't really gain an appreciation for it until I found art that suited me, then the rest of it didn't seem so bad. I encourage you to go check out some local art exhibits and see if there is anything out there that strikes your fancy. Good luck with it man

i took art history in HS.

i don't remember too much, but i appreciated the class. I just think it was total BS when one painting we learned about was literally just an orange canvas. literally, just orange but a bit darker on one side. it was so silly, i asked the teacher if i painted a blue version of that "art masterpiece" if MoMA would hang it up in one of their galleries!!! he of course said, no...it wouldn't be "art"...

I'm a Graphics major and I HAVE to take EVERY SINGLE one of the Art History classes. First off, what art area is this focused on? Modern, 19th century, everything? Modern art was by far the most interesting. I always had classes on T/Th. I had a friend in this art history class of mine and I'd go tuesdays, she on Thursdays. Exchanged notes and did fine. Signed the role for each other as well ...they take role at our college.

If you need images of art...artencyclopedia.com..I think thats right? Tons of info, links, and of course, pics. And if your in the basic art history class, all you'll really have to remember is the style, date, artist, and title.

Yes it is boring...especially the caveman era...
