    Magic the Gathering peoples!

Yeah so while I have been away from the car scene I started playing Magic the Gathering again at some local tournaments and stuff. So far the best I have placed is 3rd out of 29 players in a constructed tournament using an infect swarm type deck.

I generally place in the top 10 out 20+ people but some of these people are running like 12 plainswalkers and ultra rare cards

My deck consists of all common and uncommons + 2 rare lands that can become infect creatures.

I sold most of my older MtG cards to fund my new cards so that i could enter tournaments.

I still have all my cards. I made my deck in 95, and stopped playing shortly after. I miss it, but all my friends sold their cards for one reason or another (guitars, coke, or just because they're idiots... well, that kinda encompasses all of them...)

Mine is black and blue. Basically a reversal deck. Slow moving, but once it gets going I'm unstoppable. I've only been beaten by speed decks. My friends and I always liked to have epic battles, so I almost always won.

yeah i started back up with the release of M12. You should look for FNM (Friday Night Magic) at shops near you. Try to get into sealed or draft tournaments to start since most of your cards are older and no longer legal in tournaments. Sealed you get 6 packs of cards to build a deck with whatever you get from the packs (locations supply mana usually) and draft each player gets 3 packs where everyone opens one pack at a time pulls a card and passes the rest till the pack is gone then start the next pack. when its all done you build a deck with what you pulled. prices for tournaments vary but usually its $13-$15 for draft and $25 for sealed. When you look at the cost of the cards you get ($4 a pack) entry fee basicly cover costs then the top 4 - 8 players depending on how many people play win packs. In the one i placed 3rd i got 5 packs free and i usually get at least 2 packs free from placing in top 8. Most I have seen is a friend won 19 packs in 1st place finish with 39 people.

Now that I have plenty of cards from my draft and sealed tournaments i play free constructed every friday so its free to play and I still win packs of cards.

All the new rules confused the hell out of me, though.

I stopped playing when the available sets were 4th Edition, Chronicles, and Ice Age.

The sealed tournaments sound like fun, though... as long as I learn the rules.

M12 has gone back to the basics pretty much which is why im liking it more. Your right about the rules though, they went a bit overboard. The only thing you might have to learn for M12 are plainswaler rules, bloodthirst, and thats about it. Check out the MtG game on xbox it uses most of the cards you will see in sealed tournaments.

I used to play back in middle school. My deck was made up of artifact creatures and I think green. I ended up trading off my cards for a gameboy color and Pokemon red. I didn't have any rare so it was a decent trade in my opinion.
