Whats a good price for a ruger lcp 380

I want to buy a new ruger lcp 380. The cheapest I have seen is $289 but my friend is telling me he has seen them at gunshows for like 205.
Anyone else have this gun and what did you pay? I am thinking the 289 is a good deal but idk.

I doubt he has seen him for 205, he is full of it. Maybe the keltec but the ruger is so popular right now that I highly doubt it.

s&W? meh, I would get the ruger, the S&W does have less recoil but meh.

If you have a higher budget you could look into the Kahr p380, pretty sweet little pistol.

What are you going to be using it for? Do you want new or used?

I had a Ruger P345 and didn't really care that much for it, however a lot of people I know have Rugers and like them. My mom and sister both have Ruger LC9s for CCW. I have 2 H&Ks that I alternate for CCW and I love both of them.

$205 seems really cheap and could have been for a used one. Check cheaperthandirt.com to see what their price is. Usually they are about the cheapest. If there is a Cabela's close to you, they are usually the cheapest out of major retailers.

When I was shopping for one a few years ago they were 320ish. I ended up goin with the keltec. Just bought another .380 and went with the bodyguard for $390?

Anything in the $200 range is a good price. The ones I've seen are in the $300-$350 range.

Now, the LCP is chambered in .380ACP. I'd suggest going for something like the LC9 or Kel Tec PF9 in 9mm, and here's why.

Back in 2008, we had the Obama scare. Stock dried up around the country. Absolutely everything was inflated in price by about 50-100%. AK47's that were going for 300 before were now going for 500.

.380ACP was gone. I mean GONE. I could not find that caliber ammo anywhere. .45ACP, 9mm, .40S&W were all still around but .380ACP was just gone. If you want a gun that you'll have for absolute emergencies, you have to take the availability of the ammo into account. .380acp is also more expensive than 9mm while it has far less velocity:

                    .380acp:
                    Ballistic performance
                    Bullet weight/type Velocity Energy
                    90 gr (5.8 g) JHP 1,000 ft/s (300 m/s) 200 ft·lbf (270 J)
                    95 gr (6.2 g) FMJ 980 ft/s (300 m/s) 203 ft·lbf (275 J)
                    Test barrel length: 3.75
                    Source(s): Federal Cartridge [1]

                    9mm:
                    Ballistic performance
                    Bullet weight/type Velocity Energy
                    7.45 g (115.0 gr) FMJ 390 m/s (1,300 ft/s) 570 J (420 ft·lbf)
                    8.04 g (124.1 gr) FMJ 360 m/s (1,200 ft/s) 518 J (382 ft·lbf)
                    7.50 g (115.7 gr) JHP 377 m/s (1,240 ft/s) 533 J (393 ft·lbf)
                    7.45 g (115.0 gr) JHP +P 411 m/s (1,350 ft/s) 632 J (466 ft·lbf)
                    7.45 g (115.0 gr) JHP +P+ 435 m/s (1,430 ft/s) 704 J (519 ft·lbf)
                    Test barrel length: Tests 1,2&3: 150mm / Tests 4&5: 118mm.

Now that I (hopefully) have talked you into 9mm, I'd also highly recommend getting a good quality ammo in jacketed hollow point. Traditional FMJ ball ammo can have over-penetration in a target, meaning it goes right through. A good JHP round will deliver the kinetic energy to the target far more efficiently and protect against hitting innocent bystanders behind a target in the worst case scenario.

                    Also, always aim center-mass.

                    Hope it helps!
