    Americas boys in blue

I would really love to know where our boys in blue get off at. Today it is snowing like crazy and freezing rain. The roads have not yet been plowed and most likely we will be snowed in. Well my brother took my dads 04 Mercury Marauder to school and was driving home.

On the way home, the rear end of the car got kicked out after hitting a pothole, brakes locked up, and he completley lost control of the car and ended up sliding off the road, hitting a fence, and getting stuck. The mirror is torn off, the front bumper and hood are all scraped up and scratched. THANK GOD, my little brother is alright and I thank god he is alright and un injured.

Well, my father and I walk up to where he is at and theres cops. No problem. Until, they tell us they cant pull him out, my brother is an irresponsible driver, he had no business being on the road and go ahead and write him a big long ass ticket and tell him hes looking at charges for property damage and charges for wreckless driving and what not. They even were talking about suspending his license. He was going doing 25 in low gear. REAL FUCKING WREKCLESS RIGHT?

But honestly, the kid is a new driver hes shaken up, hes sitting on the side of the road in tears over the whole thing and rather then protect and serve they want to fuck us over!? WHAT THE FUCK!?!? These assholes need to get a sense of what respect is and how to do their job the right fucking way. Which by the way, I was told by the cheif that in weather like this they are supposed to help stranded motorist and tickets are to be let go due to weather conditions. But not to us right? What the fuck is wrong with these assholes? The kids in tears and they want to pull that shit?
Now please everyone do not get me wrong, I am a firm believer that our law enforcement has a tough task at hands. They put their lives on the line for our well being. But in a small town with no crime, they harass the people as oppose to protecting the people. This situation is no different. I am completley understanding the fence issue does need to be taken care of and insurance covers that. Thats fine. But when you see a young man on the side of the road like that, what would urge them to pull the shit they did?

Now everyone, I know there is a few of you who make childish remarks and claim to be mature members of the forum but seriously, lets keep this conversation adult and free of flaming or childish remarks. I am simply saying while issues in this situation do need to be taken care of they could have handled it way better then they did.

No this is not intended to be a fuck the police thread because it isnt.

Would correcting your spelling of "reckless" be considered childish? (it's true, he wasn't wreckless... he wrecked!)

Anyway, he can fight the charges in court. When cops see a young kid in a powerful RWD vehicle that lost control, they usually assume he was doing something stupid.
    Most times, they're right.
Ultimately, it IS up to the driver to maintain control of the vehicle they are driving. If the roads aren't suited for a certain level of operation, the driver should be aware of that. Even if it means NOT driving.

Did your brother have options regarding what car to take? A 300hp V8 powered RWD boat REALLY isn't the best choice for snow. If a better option were available, then choosing to take the Marauder was a reckless choice in itself.

And really, it's snowing there? In April? I'm in NJ, and it's pushing 70 today!

Yup it sure is so bad i got sent home from work early and put on call for plowing tonight! Thats mountain life for ya! None of us saw this coming the weather was saying it wasnt supposed to start until late tonight and go through to tomorrow and it was actually just rain this morning. So my dad saw nothing wrong with it and sent him on his way as he missed the bus and that was the only option. Personally I would have just drove him to school myself but I was at work and its my dads day off. So really it goes both ways it was a stupid decision on both of their parts.

Considering he already slid the thing off the road in january in the snow I am surprised he was driving it with the forecast at all. I understand all of this and respect that and if thats where these cops were coming from thats fine too. But it just burns me up that a kid in tears after a traumatic experience and they were like that.

Yeah, it sounds like their attitude towards him was uncalled for. The charges were probably unavoidable... I mean, a cop can't really arrive at a scene where a car clearly crashed and caused damage, and NOT write tickets. He could probably get in trouble for doing that. If any leniency is to be given based on circumstances, it's up to the judge.

My ex's uncle lost his job as a cop, after MANY years on the force, because he let someone go when he shouldn't have (I believe it was the daughter of a local government official, and she had been drinking.)

Oh yeah thats expected. I knew because there was damage to someones property a report was going to be taken and something was going to happen. Just when i heard them talk about suspended licesne and what not thats when i got to thinking the were crossing the line and they went on and down this whole list and was just like holy shit! Thats when i thought the line was starting to get crossed and with that attitude we all were already pissed at them

Whys your title labeled "america's boys in blue"? Pigs in Illinois dont fly up on the scene and start shitting out contrived things to scare kids who cant drive. Seems more like podunk west coast town sorta thing. But besides that, cops cant suspend anyones license. thats up to the court and judge, thats where I would have checked the oinker. Theyre enforcers not adjudicators. Just sounds like theyre trying to scare him, for whatever reason and that wasnt cool. Fight it in court and let their superior officers know how unprofessional they were..Unless its Barney Fife running the PD

My 18 year old brother is a new driver too and i'm worried as hell when it's lightly raining. I couldn't imagine him driving in the snow.

When i wrecked my truck a few years back, I had to deal with the city police because i was outside my township area. Granted i was placed in the back of the squad car, the officer reassured me he wasn't taking me anywhere but he did need to write me a ticket for losing control of my car. I was shaken up from the airbag deploying in my face and there was a ringing in my ears but the officer said that it'll go away in a few minutes. I don't know what to say about your brother but maybe he just pissed off that officer for making him have to drive out there in the mess of a snow storm? Even last week when some lady wrecked her car into our fence, the police officers that showed up were a little suspicious but everyone was calm and there was no threatening or anything. They wrote her a ticket and had her car towed off our property and that was it.

That crossed my mind when I statred reading, but by the time I finished ..
I can understand your disgust with the local "5 Oh" ..

And yes, property damge and all, yeah, your brother.. or in this case it may be your dad ..
but that's coming out of the insurance policy. Tickets? Wreckless driving? That bites ass ..
I'm with you on that. However, (not tryin to stir shit up here BUT)
Is it really that easy, going 25mph, to hit a pot-hole, and have the rear end actually jump in the air?
Causing said individual to "lose control?" I might be OLD and have had my fare share of RWD cars.
And that Marauder is a beast! But I wasn't there, so .. yeah. I'm just curious.
I'm also taking into consideration, the conditions that he was in. I'm sure that was a major factor.

Oh, and not mention, we're dealing with a noob driver. Mix that all-together, and ooo k.
I can see this happening .. BUT, I certainly would not be reading off a plethora of citations lol!

Like Deev and the others have said .. I'd get a good traffic lawyer and go to da judge! ..

Hope it all turns out good for everyone concerned ..
Glad your lil bro wasn't hurt .. he jus needs some speriance!

Did any of the officers go out on his wreck in January? Maybe they remembered him and thought he always drives reckless or something lol

Well I was wondering about that too but where he lost control at was going down hill in a boat of a vehicle so I can see how no traction going downhill would cause it to pick up speed. Honestly your post gave me a pretty good laugh and we went with a buddy of mine and pulled it out the property owner was fine with it and said as long as we help fix the fence he will let it go and i saw the tire tracks and where he skid it looked like a fucked up situation he was in.

Craziest part about it he stopped right before a big tree stump and was about 10 feet from a gas meter which would have DESTROYED the car. So we are lucky about all of that. However, I still think the local pd went about it completley wrong. Rather then give him words of encouragement or anything of that nature they just made asses of themselves. Funny thing is i thought my dad would have gone ape shit hes the biggest nit picker about every little detail on that car and its his baby and he wasnt even mad I am guessing it was not to make my brothers day worse
