How far have you driven with the gas light "on"

I was taking a trip to Dallas on the interstate and the light came on. I checked the tires I had 35psi all around and the Oil level was adequate no extra junk in the car just my fat weight. Any who it turned on at 205mi on the Trip meter and I drove almost entirely between 70-80mph in 5th gear to about 245mi on the trip meter. Might be bad for the fuel pump but I'm broke till pay day.

    Tell me about your stories.

205 miles? that isn't in a cb is it? but anyways I pretty much ran my cb out of gas, it died right as I pulled into the stall at a gas station lol, I was at 553miles on the trip lol, I think it was about 40 mils after the light came on, the engine was a Dohc f20b, but this was on purpose, I wanted to see when it ran out, thats the only time I have ever driven it, or any of my cars with the light on more then 5 miles

Yeah it was on my cb7 bro. I was referring to the trip meter 205-245mi. I basically drove fourty miles with the light on. Sweating bullets cause I didnt want to get stranded.

Damn 535mi ?! Thats really good guess you drove like grand pa. What tranny were you using? Tire PSI? How many gallons did you end up putting in at the stations?

this was a few years ago, and far from it, lol its 95% hwy driving since here in Wyoming each town is at least an hour from the next, but at that time I hat the stock manual coupe trans in it, and I don't remember the tire pressure was at or how many gallons I put in, I just remember how far I drove

You should have 2 gallons left when the light comes on.

I had my friend pick me up once and I noticed her gas light was on and she didn't seem to care, she pulled into the next station and filled up while I looked in the owners manual how big the tank was vs how many gallons she pumped. There was only .2 gallons left lol.

I've literally almost stalled the car making a sharp turn with the light on. Made me wonder how much is in there. I think the cb7 holds 17 gallons right?

I drove my cd5 with the gas light on for about 25 miles before pumping gas. This was mostly highway driving.

When I was a kid we had a '91 LX automatic sedan. We were leaving town to visit my granddad and the light came on in town. My dad was driving and my brother was in the car with us. We left Bryan, TX and didn't stop until Jewett, TX which Google maps just indicated to be 56 miles away via the route we took. I was about 13 or so but I remember just knowing we were going to run out. Granted the light was very faint for the first few miles of the trip and it was entirely a highway journey I find that to be very impressive. I tell people about it all the time but I've never mapped it until just now.

i might run the cb7 to bone dry just to see how many gallons actually fit in the tank. and of course when the light comes on as well.

Couldn't tell you the exact mileage, but if my if I remember correctly the most fuel I've ever had to put in it was like 14 gallons. FYI I try to avoid driving any of my vehicles below a quarter of a tank.

According to the owners manual, when the light comes on initially (given that the system is working properly), you should have 25 miles left under normal driving circumstances. Obviously you can stretch it out, especially if you're on the highway. The most I got was 38 miles with the light on before it started sputtering when I turned, but I wasn't exactly driving economically.

I've read that when its a solid, bright light, you have 30-40 miles left.
