and I thought I was the only one...

IMO the only thing that sucks...(and I've had this same opinion since GT3 came out) is that you can't do the full race modification on any old car like you could with GT2...

Tricks I used on GT3 with tuning don't work on GT4 because they changed the braking system... one time around the track and you'll know what I'm talking about.

They changed a couple of my tracks so now I lost my edge on some of them (i.e. Midfield Raceway).

its all in the drivingads, I can pull some mad drifts with my SC430 with the traction control and what not set right.

But the only con i have it the frame rates. (shakes) But i think a lot of that is my TV. its a Sylvania 20 inch. But I love GT4. I wish it was a little more like Toyko but i love the realness of GT4 yet the culture of Toyko.

edit: almost 25% done. whoop whoop

yeah the shaky screen, no crash damage (altgough I wouldn't call that a con, its really more of a pro, only problem is it takes away from realism)

um, other cons...theres nothing stopping you from just whoring out your car and winning every race just because you have the most money. It should be ALL SKILL, but often you can win every race just by having the most money.

Also, related to the 'no crash damage' is you can be really cheap and bump off other cars to cheat your way across the finish line. For example, you take a turn too fast, but theres a car taking the same turn on the outside. You pass him but slam your car into his. This way you won't go off the track plus you just passed him, possibly throwing him off the track. Another example, you f** up a turn and come out too slow. The car behind you will prob slam into your bumper and speed boost you back into the lead. But these are problems that have been with the series since its inception. I would like them to be fixed for GT5 so we can focus even more on realism.

But, regardless those are little faults, its a great game if you like REAL racing. If you want an arcade racer thats more FUN than REAL, stick to the midnight clubs and Need for Speeds

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Yeah, i agree.. my brothers just slam into cars around turns, take "shortcuts" and mave a car w/10x the stuff just to beat them. Im only 4% done, but im taking my time, and instead of upgrading the car, I play the same track a few times, so i get better at the track, and beat them like that.

A major con IMO is that it is like an expansion pack for GT3... I dont really see much of a difference other than really simple things. One thing I am pissed that they didnt change is the fact that you have to restart the ps2 just to load a different memory card. A Load/Save screen would have been just fine with me.

And I think that the shaky screen is the ps2. If you have a regular older one, you will get that. The new slim ones are more powerful and faster, and will not do this.

don't know if this was mentioned or not.. but you also can't purchase any car just to see how it drives without the game saving (as opposed to GT3).

but i actually kind of like that in the sense that you have cars to look forward to racing in the game.

oh and another thing I don't like is winning cars that have NO VALUE! That shit pisses me off, race a whole series and win a car that is worthless...my garage is filled with cars I don't want, but I hate that the only choice I have is to get rid of them. When you need money, owning a "priceless" car just means you own a "worthless" car.

Yeah tell your brothers they have no skill, playing as you do is much better, as you will actually win by skill, not by being a whore.

Not true. I have a brand new slim PS2 and it still does it.

It's the low res that does it. If you can run higher res (it's in the setup) it won't shake. You'll need a TV that supports progressive scan (480p) or high def (1080i) for this to work.

i read an article stating that the creator of the gran tourismo series has absolutley no intrest in car damage so we're kinda fucked on that one...although having to repair your car all the fucking time like in srs was the most annoying shit ever

I agree, thats why I said it's more of a con, reason I kinda want it is just to prevent people from using the "cheats" I mentioned before.

Also I think it is the low resolution (of the tv) to blame as well. It was that first thing I thought of when I saw it, but I also thought it was just me.
If any one is playing on a hi-def tv back us up if you can!
