I am getting a Canon EOS 10D from a trade I'm doing and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it? I think it will be a great camera for a beginner like me, but please let me know other wise.

I'm not really into the megapixel bull crap that people always go on and on about. I think if you honed in your skills and master the camera you can take awesome photos in no time. Plus buying and using different lense helps also right?Originally posted by PakaloloHonda View PostYou'll be hooked ..
Just don't get all caught up in the mega pixel thang, and you'll have a blast ..
Like I said I am getting this camera from a trade with extra battery, cf cards and a remote for tripod use. So I think I can't complain!"form follows function."

yep, it'll be perfect for a beginner. you'll probably outgrow it semi fast depending on how willing you are to learn though.
the major downfall of a camera that old is the sensor technology. the camera will probably see not so good ISO performance, which means you'll need a lot of light in your pictures , and darker pictures will be very grainy/noisy. when youre a beginner this shouldnt bother you too much. or at least try not to let it. the main thing is learning how the camera works and learning exposure so you can work out of manual mode.
get a nice fast piece of glass for darker occasions so you dont have to bump your iso too much. my canon friends rave about the 50 1.8 (dubbed by most as the plastic fantastic), its cheap, takes great pics, and gets you a nice wide open aperture for depth of field play and low light shooting.
megapixels may not be everything, but they are something. that being said 6.3mp isnt bad at all. it'll be good for 90% of the pictures you take, just doesnt leave a ton of room for cropping or printing big.
its fun though, if you are anything like me, you'll get addicted fast.
