Brightest 21 year old head lights?

Lately it seems people have been being pissed off by my headlights?! I have my completely stock headlight housing with a set of silverstar ultras. In the past week I've had at least 4 people brake check me, pull over and get behind me with their high beams on. I simply just flip my mirror to night mode and drive extremely slow and block when they try to pass me.

Today though, it's very wet and slippery out and some asshole decided to brake check me. I was a good 4 car lengths behind him and saw when his tires locked up and he pretty much did a 180. I drove by him slowly with my window down, waved and said "Thanks for getting out of my way you fucking asshole!" or something to the extent haha Anyway, has this happened to anyone else?!

I've never had anyone beam me and I'm running HID's in stock housings. I don't wanna be "that guy" but any chance it has something to do with your driving?

I usually stay pretty far behind people. I like to stay 1 car length for every 10mph i am moving. For example: If I'm going 40mph I will stay 4-5 car lengths away.

        Are they aimed properly?

I agree on this one. The aiming is definitely out of spec.

I had them aligned when they did the inspection on my car because apparently 1 was pointing too low. The guy was pretty cool about it and just raised it up to what they consider a pass and I haven't touched them ever since.

I just went out and turned my lights on and they are pretty bright. Those sylvania ultras are like damn HID's! I would swap them out for some other bulbs, but I do a lot of dark back road driving and I like my light out put. I rarely ever have to use my high beams.

I've never had anyone flash me before even when i was running HIDs in my Civic's headlights. Anyhow they went bad and i just replaced them with Xtravision lightbulbs, once these go out i'm thinking about ordering some NightHawks as i hear those are better than the Silverstars.

If you've ever messed with your headlights, there's the possibility that the shroud for the low beam bulb isn't there anymore, but if that were the case I doubt you'd pass inspection.

Both shrouds are there. I made sure to re-install them after black housing. Maybe I should try re-aligning them?? How would I even go about do this properly? I think I've read before that it involves some special equipment that is hard to find now-a-days.

That's better than most people do! In NJ, "safe following distance" means "cut me off!" If you're going 60mph, matching speed with the dude 6 car lengths in front of you, the guy behind you WILL pass on the right and cut in front of you.

Anyway, I agree with the aiming. Pull up to a wall and realign them. Point them down just a little bit.

As for running HIDs in stock housings... don't do that. It's REALLY annoying, and after over a decade in this game, I see anyone with HIDs in stock housings and think "wow, what a ricer!" When HIDs were new and uncommon, it was cool to have them. Now, they're cheap and common... and there are options to install them PROPERLY for just about every commonly modified vehicle.

You sound like an immature child, odds are you probably act similarly in real life.

Aligning your headlights is a simple procedure that can be done anywhere with a flat, colorless wall and at least 25' of flat pavement to back up from the wall. For our cars, the alignment screws are on the rear housing of the headlight. A large-bit head screwdriver is best as the screws are driven like gears by the screwdriver. Follow any one of the guides in the thread linked below.

I would never use HID's in any car I own. I have driven cars with HID systems in housing's not designed for them and I feel like an extreme asshole. That's why I went with the silverstars. They were actually made for my housing and are a trusted brand.

I'm actually way more mature than most 30-40 year old people are. But, when you are getting brake checked, on a rainy day, I'm not going to stop and ask the person "Are you ok? Would you like me to shut off my lights while I am driving behind you?" The person was obviously being an asshole and I pointed it out to him.

As for aligning my lights, I'll probably do it at work this week.

It'll take you all of 5 minutes to align them. It's simple.

And yes, though what you did was fairly asshole-ish... I'd probably have done the same. I'm a big one for road-courtesy, and when someone is careless, selfish, or negligent, I'll GLADLY do something to show them my disapproval. Never dangerous, but enough to get their attention.

Yeah I know it's quick but It will be raining all weekend long. At work I can bring it inside and point it at the garage door.

While it may have been an asshole move, the asshole deserved it. I always stand my ground when I have to. When I know it's my fault, I will admit it, stick my tail between my legs and shut up.

Just be careful. About this time last year, I was in a small traffic circle. Some dude in a Benz SUV was sitting at a stopsign, waiting to enter. As I came around (slowly), he pulled right in front of me. I honked my horn and said "what the fuck dude!?!", then I took the next exit. The Benz pulled a U turn in the middle of the circle and began chasing me. A mile later, he caught me at a light. Pulled up in the opposite lane to yell at me for "flying around the circle" (I was behind a minivan that was turning down the street he was waiting on... I was going less than 10mph!)

Anyway, dude was a cop. A Lieutenant in the town I was in. He told me he was a cop, and that he had my plate number. I drove away, after recording his plate number, and called the police myself. They told me that the plate number did not belong to one of theirs. They lied.
3 days later, I got 3 tickets in the mail... Cracked Safety Glass (windshield... legit.), Improper Use of Horn (bullshit... fucker cut me off!), and Reckless Driving (5 freakin' points!) I filed my own tickets against the cop, got a lawyer, and prepared to fight. The township sat on the tickets I wrote until they were invalid. Then I got to pay $1200 for my lawyer, just to get slapped with the horn ticket and a reduced "careless driving" ticket (less points, higher fine.) The ONLY ticket to get excused was the one that was actually legitimate!

Anyway, my point is... even if you're 100% in the right, anything you do that could piss someone off could end up pissing the WRONG person off. It could be a cop, or some crazy dude...

Actually, that happened locally too... a kid that grew up near me (I didn't know him, but my friend did) accidentally cut off my friend's dad. Dad got PISSED, and followed the kid (17 years old, but build like a linebacker). The kid got home, and tried to run into his house. Dad hit him with his car. The kid got up, pissed, and walked over to the guy... punched him twice in the head. Old Jim never woke up. Fortunately, the kid got cleared of all charges, because he really WAS just defending himself... but still... what a tragic end to a case of road rage.
