Coolrom PS1 Emulator

Anybody else rockin this? Played Crash Bandicoot, downloaded FF8, but I'm currently playing GT2, bringing the memories way back with the GT2 soundtrack!

I still have all my PS1 games on disc so i just rip the content onto my computer to play them instead of going through the trouble of hooking up the system. Also i wanted to keep my discs scratch free which is another reason why i ripped the games that i liked.

For a while i was playing Road Rash Jail Break because it was fun racing motorbikes and punching people off their bikes.

Rob Zombie is on the GT2 soundtrack. For some reason while playing it and hearing the music I kept getting reminded of back before the F&F days.

I was using PCSX for the longest time, but the newest versions require a non-pirated BIOS dump... and it was too much work to dump my own BIOS. The same goes for PCSX2 (PS2). It's unfortunate, because I only wanted to play games that I actually own, so all I'd be pirating is the BIOS image!

Never heard of coolrom, but I'll have to give it a shot. I kinda want to play FF7 and FF8 again!
GT2 is still my favorite racing game. SO ugly compared to today's Forza and GT games, but so much more fun, I think. Just enough realism to be impressive, and just enough unrealism (that's a word now... I say it is) to make it fun. And the soundtrack was bangin.

I don't mind the old games, but I don't think I'd pirate new games. None of the companies are losing money if you're pulling ~20 year old games. Plus I have sweet ass setup on my laptop for travel. I can rock them anywhere I go. I'm going to get Metal Gear Solid too. Wasted a whole year of my childhood playing that over and over.

Technically, since a lot of the older games are being released for other platforms (DLC for PS3 and Xbox360, mobile platforms, PC downloads, etc...) those old games are still making the companies money. However, I agree that it's old stuff, and really not a big a deal to pirate. Of course, if you wanted to support the companies, you could always purchase the game on one of those new platforms just to say you paid, or even pick up a used copy on eBay (not that it would support the companies, but it would at least allow you to say "I own the original. )

I never tried Metal Gear Solid. I remember the original Metal Gear for Nintendo, and that game was hard as balls!

Don't have a Playstation and I put about two hours on my Xbox a month. Not going to buy a new console just to play old games. I'll probably buy an old PS1 when I can find one, but for now having the access on the laptop is awesome, especially for when I'm at school or on the road.

Metal Gear Solid was the unofficial best game ever made for the PS1. You should give it a go.

Was just playing tony hawk 2 the other day, and I still have my memory card with FF7 on it.

I think I'll power it up and see if I can still slay that beast in the ocean...

Nah, used x-summon, Knights of the round and then mime while constantly healing/reviving. I setup my items for defense, magic and haste.

I never did kill that thing...

Took 6 tries to get back in the groove but I killed him in 18 minutes.

I swore there was a timer for that battle which was why you needed the underwater materia.

yup you are right, million hp and 20 minutes to kill him.

Knights of the round-mastered-destroys this guy. Well not really, it takes a while lol but with the x summon you summon it twice per cycle, and then using mime you duplicate that. So 4 times per cycle you summon knights of the round with two members of your party, while bascially protecting and keeping your party alive with the third.


I also used like 30 phoenix downs and 18-19 megalixers


And it was a fucking blast!!

I haven't played FF7 since probably 2000 or so. I was nervous my memory card might have failed. When I mentioned playing tony hawk 2, I was playing it on my sons ipod touch. After this thread, I unpacked my PS1 and fired it up. Everything worked perfect and I basically nerded out last night, lol.

The entry shows 153 hours when I load my game.

Man I was a nerd about this game.
