Well, there are racing autos, and standard daily driver autos. And now modern performance autos (and automated manuals.) Current high-end autos like the ones found in exotics today are WAY faster than a human could shift.

An auto NSX from the early to mid 90s is unlikely to be spectacular, though.
I feel a car like that should have a manual just for the feel of it. After spending years developing the intimate connection a manual transmission gives a driver to a car, I feel an auto would be a serious injustice to such a car. To me, an auto NSX is like saying "I wanted the look, but I don't really care about how it performs." An auto NSX is like a 6 cylinder Camaro or Mustang!

After a little while, though, some things are going to creep up due to age. I wonder where the value on these things goes when window seals start rotting and the leather starts splitting.
Actually, the NSX was repeatedly voted the highest quality car on the market when it was still in production by JD Power. The number of reported issues was very miniscule compared to even Lexus. The manufacturing tolerances and development work that went into making sure it was durable were astounding. Over time, they have VERY few age related issues and are pretty much akin to "regular" Honda product from the early 90's (which is to say they run forever with little maintenance). There are many early NSX's pushing 200+K with virtually no problems at all. There are also many tracked cars that have a lot of track time on them that are still at or near 200K with no real issues.

Obviously as they age, some minor stuff goes wrong (like the seals you mentioned), but it seems that parts are still readily available, if a bit more than your typical Honda part.

To give you an idea of the design effort, the engine's durability cycle was 200,000 miles. At full throttle, full load and near max RPM.

Most common issues are well documented on NSXprime, and realistically, the NSX offers a whole lot of car for the money and a mild repair cost for a same vintage supercar.

Over heard a conversation once with a guy and a automatic supra. A fella asked him why the auto? the owner replied you try 1300whp in a straight drive its hairy enough dealing with the power as is.

As said straight line i'd go auto. For the period of time yes auto was lacking which is why i'd choose the manual for the curves, but an automatic can be fast. I do not see the questioning behind auto sports/power cars it's proven and half the people i see driving vetts are 60+ year old men, the same goes for most cars that are in that class are driven by retired people.
