Have you ever seen those information lcd's that people mount to their custom computers?

Well, if you have an old palm or other pda lying around collecting dust you can transform it into one for free!

That's the article I originally saw that sparked my interest. I have a Palm Zire lying around, so I got to work. Using PalmOrb, and LCDSmartie I was able to turn it into a useful information display. LCDSmartie also has plugins for winamp, and speedfan, which monitors and reports CPU temperature, mobo temp, hard drive temp, and fan speeds. So my display cycles between computer temp/fan speed, and cpu usage, memory and pagefile usage, and network speed up/down. I have it hooked to the charger so it doesn't die, and PalmOrb prevents it from auto-shutdown, so I leave it on all the time while I'm using the computer.

Have fun!
