    S2000's SUCK!

uuuhhh....I hate them! Let me clarify....I hate working on them, nothing is simple. Today at work I started a transmission rebuild on a 05 S2K. It took me like 2.5 hours just to get the damn thing out! Accords, I can have a transmission completely swapped, out and back in and on the ground running in under 2 hours. This S2K on the other hand is kicking my ass, and to make it worse, it only pays like 8 hours for warranty! I finally got the damn thing out before I left today, then tomorrow I have to tear the trans apart, replace a couple gears and syncros, put it all back together, and stab the damn thing back in the car. Yeah, tomorrow should be fun....

damn dude that sucks at least you get to work on some nice cars. I am a mechanic my self also and dude it does suck when things always take as long as time paid or when it sometimes takes longer. I have to ask this if you don't mind. How is a transmition on the new V6 accord 6spd? it seems like my second gear grinds when i do a shift from 1st to 2nd. I need to take it in i try to be careful but sometimes it just does it.

To work on? More than likely. You don't get 120hp per liter by sticking simple. So what the hell is this guy doing to his 05 S2000 that he ALREADY needs a tranny rebuild? He must be riding that thing like a bitch. And also you could probably do the tranny swap on an accord in 2 hours cause you are familiar with what to do. The S2000? well that's a different story.

That sucks about the S2000's... But why will replacing my leaky rear main seal cost over $700 to get replaced at my local Honduh?

Don't even get me started.... I have an RSX here that completely tore out the second gear (litterally tore the teeth off the gear) I get another transmission from a friend that works at a dealer.. now the new tranny has got a horrible second gear grind (which is infamous with the RSX) and this guy is no where to be found.

I can't beleive I will have to pull this shit apart again.... damnit.

Yea I heard that the RSX trannys suck because I have a friend that works at an Acura dealership and he had to replace the 04' tranny with a new one due to bad syncrhos and a grinding second gear. BTW, the owner of the car is not even a racer like me and the rest of you guys

BTW, to get back on the topic, I hope it all goes well with the S2K tranny. Damn I want to drive one of those so bad!

02-04 RSX trannies have a second gear syncro recall. They also have a shift linkage recall. I'm pretty sure the transmission I got instead of buying a good transmission came out of a car that was recalled. That's why I'm so upset.

It tore the second gear out of it because it's a 350 whp vehicle. So far this is the third RSX I've seen to do the same thing pushing roughly the same power. The difference is the other two had the new trannies cryo treated to prevent it from happening again.

I drove one. It's really loud and metallic, and you sit higher up in it than you do our CB's (well at least mine). The shifter is as is the clutch, and that's very necessary as there's basically no torque. It does open up towards the redline though. Very nice car.

yeah i hear the mechanics at work all the time saying, "ahh another one", theres a lot of them that come through the shop, well theres more of the accords than those, but sense honda is all mainly FWD and the motors are all mainly in sideways, the s2000 is the bitch one lol...this is why i take care of inventory lol, i get to drive them rather than fix them hehe...and yeah 05's = f22c on ya ass...but still a beautiful machine, and say 1 outa only 4 is actually fast...ive driven quite a few, and ive come accorss 1 that i felt was as it was supposed to be the others didnt give as much.

Got the trans rebuilt and mostly put back together this morning, but I got sick of working on it so I'll wait till tomorrow to stab it back in. Yeah, no one likes seeing S2K's pull up on the service drive...the're just a bitch to work on. I do like driving them tho, and as soon as I get this trans finished up I'll be going out and romping on it a little. My only complaint is the serious lack of torque in them, they just fell so slow in daily driving. 120 hp/ltr or whatever doesn't mean shit to me, I like the power you can actually feel. I just don't like having to rev all the way up to 9K rpm just to make the thing move. It would definately be better if Honda opted for a DOHC V6....or even better a V8.....at least something that actually has some balls.

Woah, s2k's are rare at the shop. Only for like minor services, oil changes and stuff, lol you cant rotate tires
But yeah, no major services. Havent seen one yet. The last one
i saw come in was because the owner said that the Yellow on the spoiler
didnt match the Yellow on the car.
                              Damn old folks! lol
But hey if i spend 30k+ on a car, i want my shit to be perfect!
