    people and snakes

so one reason you shouldn't kill them is because you may end up with the hantavirus.....snakes can kill those animals and be fine......that's VERY helpful whether you like them or not......

another reason is that their venom could very well be the cure to certain types of pains......cobra venom is already marketed in a form that works well for certain types of chronic pain......not to mention the fact that their venom could even cure diseases one day.....there is a LOT to learn

and don't support rattlesnake roundups.....even the kind that catch and release snakes are horrible.....snakes don't do well anywhere other than the place they came from......stress is a HUGE killer of reptiles...more die from stress than from disease......they're ridiculously fragile.......

most bites happen when you attempt to kill the snake too.....leave it alone.....it wants to avoid you at all costs.......they'll learn where humans are and try to avoid them.....not smart animals, but we scare the hell out of them.....they can't eat us, every drop of venom they have to waste on us may end up causing them to miss one too many meals and die...they know that.....1/3 bites are dry.......just leave them alone or relocate them if you have to....a similar area, the closer to where you caught it the better, and you're doing a big thing....it doesn't take a man to kill a snake......any pussy can do that.....it takes a man to respect an animal that he CAN kill.........there is no benefit to killing snakes.......the chances of being killed by a snake are still less than being killed by a bee......dogs cause 80,000 people per year to be hospitalized......horses kill 100 people per year......snakes kill about 8 people per year......if you don't do something positive now, you may never get a chance.....i'm gonna do my best to save these animals from being extinct....just do your part.......most of the time, that only involves NOT bothering them......leaving them alone is the best thing if at all possible.....you aren't saving anyone from them by killing them...that rat that carries the next plague could very well have been eaten by that poor snake.......you don't have to like them, but they MORE than have their place in our world.......

email or PM me any time for info on snakes....i'll happily educate anyone that wants to learn......i'd even meet you in person with my animals to give you first hand experience.......the general public hates them because they don't understand them...they know shit about them....please don't fall into that category.......the category of uneducated idiots.......

Bro, i gotta tell you, after each and every post i've read from you lately, i have gained more and more respect for you. Your a smart dude, and i know others can see that.
    ya'll take notes on him

but seriously... I dont know why, but snakes kinda creep me out, i find it remarkable how a viper (or was it some other snake) can lunge like far as hell and attack its prey. My dad loves snakes. and he wants to get one... I guess I'd have to get used to it if he gets one... But i dont know... just my two cents...

thats pretty interesting... dad always said something like "its more afraid of you than you are of it, believe me..."

It always ended with me saying "bullshit" or something like that... but thats interesting....

      Point Understood

I don't really have to worry about snakes. Especially rattle snakes due to the fact I live in PA (northeast). Only snake I have to worry about which they don't do nothing at all are the Garden snakes. Your absolutely correct about people making the assumption that snakes are deadly. They are if you bother them like you said. I give you a lot of credit. You know a lot of info about handling snakes. If I lived closer to you, I would actually would love to see your Rattle snake. Good Luck! Thanks for the info.

We have quite a few snake bites out here in Arizona, alot of Rattlesnakes. Most of the people I know who have been bitten didnt even know they were there, most of them were hiking the trails out here and walked right up to them without even seeing them curled up. Ive had a few encounters with Rattlers, Ive been lucky Ive heard them getting pissed, and just turned right around the other way. It definatly makes your heart drop to your knees.

but i'll get a few good videos next wednesday......my wife, little girl and i watched him this afternoon.....took the rat 4.5 minutes to die....took the mouse 7 seconds lol
                  sweet....videos are a must...

There's actually 4 different venemous snakes in PA... I've only ever seen two though. Pretty rare... mostly garden and black snakes around here.

And I think it would be kickass to see your snake Fizz... pics or a video are a must

Facinating........ What was he being so defensive for? How do you handle him, like when cleaning his house, what do you do with him?

I grew up in Arizona, so I'm pretty familiar with those guys. Never gotten too close, I just liked seeing and watching them from a distance, you know. lol

I think your plan to breed and release them in an attempt to boost the timber population is definately a wonderful thing to do. I do fully understand their roll in the wildlife and respect what they are and their contributions. Its just too bad more people don't see it this way.

BTW, any pics of your new copperhead? I'd love to see it too.

I got bit about two months ago(non-venomous), it didn't hurt a bit. I didn't even know he bit me 'til I looked at my hand. The weird thing is a still have a noticeable mark, and it should have healed by now.

I didn't really like snakes until my friend Kim brought a baby python to hang out with us. It was so cool, he just crawled all over me and explored, then curled up in my shirt pocket and fell asleep while we talked.
