I think that using paypal is a good idea. They now have the feature where you insure your money if you arent really "sure" about the person you are buying from. its pennies on the dollar.

Very true! I like to see everyone taking an interest in improving things, without pointing out the negative stuff. That's a great approach!

And Juan, what's the deal with the paypal insurance? I need to look into that! I just bought some stuff from a guy on DSMtrader.com, and I was a little uneasy about sending my money to a complete stranger. I think he's cool, but PayPal insurance would definitely be a good thing!


Perhaps the BEST thing the mods, as well as the regular members here, could do to improve the classifieds section would be to come up with great ideas like this to just improve the awareness of buyers and sellers. Make communication a routine. Make payment methods standardized (paypal insurance sounds great). Set a bunch of ground rules and practical warnings, as well as suggestions to make transactions go smoothly. The bottom line is: if you aren't comfortable taking a risk, DON'T take the risk!

Don't forget, there may be a number of features that Steve has decided against using. Almost anything additional causes more bandwidth to be used... That means a crashing site for you guys, and a higher bill for Steve (which, in turn, goes into the problems we faced before...)

paypal insurance? wat bout those who dont have it?..and dont say...just get it..its not that easy..you dunno mine or other's financial situations and how things have to be foir the time being you kno..i understand that security conern tho...id also like to see the classfied section split into..for sale..and want to buy..or soemthign mroe organized

I don't think I ever got that... I use it directly from my bank account. Do you use a credit card or something? Maybe it depends on how you use it?

I dunno... next time I send money, I'll try to find out how to insure it! I got screwed once on PayPal. The dispute is settled in my favor, but the guy had no money for me to take back, so they couldn't recover anything.
