So, right now im in the market to buy a truck. I see a lot of gasoline ones for sale, no so many diesel in my price range (around 12-13k). From what I understand, the diesels get better mileage, have higher resale value, and will run a lot longer. Plus they put out more power, and with a simple chip the Cummins diesels can gain 100hp and 200lbs of torque. But, diesel is more expensive, like 50 cents over regular here in WA. BUT, those diesels can run off almost ANYTHING for christs sake!!! Will alternative fuel be the next big thing? So that would mean a diesel engine would be the thing to have instead of a gas engine. Im just lost and confused in this world of so many fucking options. Basically, im looking for... yeah I dont know. But does any of you have knowlege of trucks? What would be good for that price range? I need 4x4, rear bench seat, and a decent amount of power. Nothing too big like a 3500 long bed Ram, I wanna 4x4. Do the toyota tacomas offer enough power to tow a small boat? Because they are nice small trucks that would get good gas mileage. But have a BIG truck would be nice... yeah this was a large ramble... thoughts?

yes the only downside to that is they hold 15 qts of oil... and oil prices are high these days!
about 3 summers ago at my work (a lube shop) we used to do 100-120 cars a day... now we're lucky if we even get a 100

oh and beefy
btw i know some one that gets grease from mcdonalds and strains it many many times and uses it for fuel.
that is total bullshit why i am a certified well was two years ago as a diesel mechanic and the flash poit for diesel is alot higher then grease it would need to to be refined chemicaly to make it burn the same way a diesel so who ever told you this is full of itLast edited by Gen4Acclude; 10-02-2005, 11:12 PM.

You fuckin retarded? People make their own damn fuel for diesels. BASICALLY, its just straining things like grease, but theres some heating involved, and it works. Everyone is doing it.Originally posted by Gen4Accludethat is total bullshit why i am a certified well was two years ago as a diesel mechanic and the flash poit for diesel is alot higher then grease it would need to to be refined chemicaly to make it burn the same way a diesel so who ever told you this is full of it

Meh Im not a fan of Chevys.
Although the coolest thing about a diesel is that you can use propane injector like NOS to boost perfomance.
Ive seen this bad ass truck Bully Dog Technologies built a couple years ago for the SEMA show. Man I nearly wet myself just looking at it.Henry R

Using filtered fryer grease (or SVO as they call it) isn't such a fuckin crazy idea. Lots of people have been doing it for a long time. There's a ton of info about it. Check it out:

Yo Dunk.
Whats the exact load limit on the 3.0 liters? I saw a Ranger hauling a medium sized boat yesterday on the highway.
Love doing more work to my truck than originally intended though

Definately go diesel for sure. They get better fuel milage, last alot longer, and they can pull just about anything you can imagine. Sure they are more expensive to buy up front, but the benefits far outweigh the cost. Diesels actually produce less horsepower than their gasloline counterparts, but they make a hell of alot more torque, and that is whats really important for towing. If I were to buy a truck, it would most definately be a diesel. The Duramax, Cummins, and Powerstroke are all magnificent engines and you really can't go wrong with any of them. My ex-girlfriend's mom had a Dodge Ram 3/4 ton diesel, man I loved driving that thing. I would always be borrowing it to trailer cars around, and it would pull them like nothing was even there. Plus, I just love how loud and obnoxious they are.
