Dedication and Love for your CB7

i got a 90ex.... ive dumped about 5grand into it so far. Cosmetically is looks perfect now....now im about to drop another $4-5,000 into it for engine mods ( swap,turbo,etc )...

my parents (along with other older people that arent into modding cars) say in crazy as fuck...

im starting to lose encouragement....and im starting to think....why dump nearly 10,000 into a nearly 16year old car...
I love my cb7 to death.... and i do not plan on gettin another car anytime soon....next car im going to buy is a G35...and im 17 years old...so we all kno that is at least 3years away


i was wondering... how much money have you guys put into your cars??


and im talkin about daily drivers here....not award winning show-cars

I did about 4-5k of engine/suspension work.....then I sold it and bought a new car about a year and a half after I finished my major mods. It was fun after I finished it but all that money could have gone towards my new car which is better than the cb7 ever was. Just get your priorities right. I was young with few financial responsiblities and a good paying job. Bad combination.

Yeah, I've spent well over 10k EASILY on mods for the car.. which now I wish I would have just saved for the new car so I wouldn't have the payments I'm about to get..

My parents were always right about never getting back what you put in. I'm selling my car for less than I paid for it.. and I have more than a lot of people here.. I wish I could go back in time.

if you don't think your going to keep the car for some time putting a ton of money into it isin't the smartest idea. You will completely lose your ass on anything you've put into it. I hate to think how much I've lost on the 3 accords I've owned.

I think dumping 10 grand into a CB7 is retarded.

But its your money and car, do what you will.

I have a 92 Accord and a 95 Civic, both will receive a healthy dose of mods, because its what I like to do...

Just don't do it all too fast.

paid 2000 for the car spend 3115 on mods (i keep a record) i plan on spending about 500 this weekend and ill be done with modding it. while i agree spending money on an old car may not be the best idea, however im going to be stuck with my car for a few years so i might as well have it be a little nice.

The bottom line is .... Are you gonna keep your Cb for a long time or not ... You see I did this same thing .. how much do i want to put in to this car ...should i shouldnt i .... BUT in the end it comes down to this ... For me im going to die with my CB7 simply because like most Chevy and Ford Muscle head Guys they have a Car that they loves Forever and thats what they have as there garaged car all there life tinkering and playing with for me I've built 95 Mustang , 88 Camaro z-28 , 68 Camaro , 87 Monte SS , And to be Honest " I Will Die With My CB7 " Just because its my new loved car the one i will forever play with weather it be Motor Swaps and Redicuolous Turbo's or Just how it is now Stock Basicaly I Just love to Play with it and or Drive it soo I Guess it depends .. everyone says you never get back what you put in ..well if you never get rid of what you put in then who cares ...Right '' anyways all im sayin is make sure its something you want for a while before sinkin any real money into it for me its like my new motto .....

I put about $10,000 into my car as it sits now... not including the purchase price.

My DX is completely stock at the moment, but I have almost $1000 in parts waiting to go on... and at least another $1000-$2000 planned.


I NEVER expect to sell the LX. It'll have to fall apart, crash, or get stolen for me not to own it anymore (and the first two options there would probably result in repair if possible!) I put way too much money into it, and I plan on spending probably another $30,000 in the future (full H22 build, better suspension, full restoration of body and wear components, etc... maybe eventually a built K series swap...)

The DX may or may not be sold. I've been contemplating just making that a serious turbo project... fully built F22B DOHC, complete restoration, etc...



I'm about to start grad school, and should be making 40-50k a year fairly soon as well. Seeing as I'm getting by on under 20k now, I should have plenty of play money! Once I'm out of grad school, I'm looking at 80k+... There may be a day when you'll see a Skyline parked next to the LX Which one will be faster is yet to be seen...

yea i have NO plans on selling my cb7. and so far i have sent nearly 12,000 so far.....the big ticket items were the quarterpanels and wheel wells (2door so big ass quarterpanels) (3700) and i had an accident that i spent 3500 to fix it . so bout 5000 on mods, maintenance (done every 3000miles) grrr i'm comming up on my timing belt change . but yea i will plan on putting alot more money in the car that i will keep forever. daily driver show car in the making lol
