wow now i know how to get some attention on here. i was just wondering because in another thread a guy was talking about double clutching in a drag race and i was aware that in a drag race u most likly power shift. and heel toe is used more on a road course. i had never heard of double clutching and just wanted someone to clear it up for me.

powershifting is when ur accelerating and u dont take ur foot off the gas and u just shift as quick as possible without taking ur foot off the gas. heel toe is a lot more complicated. and is used more during a road course to down shift and let the engine stay in the power band by clutching, braking and downshifting but at the same time side stepping to give the car a little throttle to get ur rpms up b4 reengaging into a gear. its rather tough.

Almost. Heel toe is used to keep the car balanced in a corner where all the grip is already being used to corner. Its physics really. If your using all of your grip to take a corner then a sudden jerk of the car slowing for a second will upset the balance causing you to spin out. Hences the rev match. If your slowing down to take a corner.... you also want to be in the right gear while exiting and the only way to do it is to shift in the middle of the corner. So while your foot is on the brake you use the heel of your foot to blip the throttle before you down shift and if done right the car doesn't lose or gain speed for the shift itself. I have a good link somewhere I'll post for you guys when I get off of work.

Edit: nvm I found it.heel toe

sorry about the double post. But I notice this right when I was leaving.... The proper reason to double clutch is when the vehicle doesn't have synchros and you HAVE to rev match to keep the tranny from grinding. Add the brake in there when you do it and now you have heel toe. reving the engine while in a drag race is a usless cause you lose so much time trying to rev the motor to drop the clutch. this is why its a fast and the furious only thing to do only. I got so sick and tired of other kids talking about double clutching and naws after that movie. But its all good I guess.
