#CB7Tuner
Well, I dunno about everyone else here, but I'm an IRC junkie, and feel that
every succesfull community needs an IRC channel. I have asked permission
to set this up, and write up a how-to for IRC n00b's. I will be editing this
how-to as I proof it, and also will be setting up a Java chat for the channel
shortly (which you can use straight from your browser, rather than mIRC).
IRC JAVA CHAT IS SETUP... SCROLL DOWN FOR INFO!

------------------------------------------------
This guide assumes that the user has no previous knowledge regarding IRC and everything is explained in the most detailed and helpful way.
I.............. Getting mIRC
You can get mIRC from http://www.mirc.com. You don't need any secondary/external software to install mIRC; you only need to download the install executable, run it and you'll have it installed in your computer.
In order to download mIRC, you need to go to the Download mIRC section on www.mirc.com and click on any of the mirrors provided. The filename of the latest self-extracting executable as of December 22, 2005 is mirc616.exe.
When prompted to Save or Open the file, choose to save the file to your hard drive. Take note of the directory you are saving this file to, you'll need it to run it.
II............. Installing mIRC
Very well, now you have mIRC installer on your hard drive.
Go to the directory where you download mirc616.exe to, and either press the Enter key, or double click it.
You will get a screen like this one:

Once you press Next, the License Agreement wil be presented to you, click Yes.
You'll now be presented with a screen like this:

You'll notice the default install path is C:\Program Files\mIRC, which is fine. Then you'll have the option to check or uncheck three boxes, it's all up to you; however, if this is the first time you've installed mIRC (meaning you have no previous mIRC versions installed) the first two boxes are better left untouched. The "Create Shortcut Icons" is up to you, but for most people it's better to leave it checked.
Now click Install and the executable will take care of everything.
You'll now have a shortcut icon to run mIRC on your desktop and a folder in your Start Menu.
III............ Setting up mIRC
When you first open up mIRC, a screen will pop up. You need to fill in the values asked here in order to connect.

On this first part, you'll be asked to fill in four values.
Full Name: You can put your real name, a fake name, your alias, whatever you like.
Email Adress: Once again, you can put in your real Email adress or a fake one.
Nickname: This is the nickname you will use when connected to any IRC server.*
Alternative Nickname: If the first nickname you chose is already taken, mIRC will automatically use the value in this box as your nickname.
*Note: The server where the channel is in (irc.amcool.net), only allows nicknames with up to 30 alphanumeric characters.
Next, go to the Identd section, and make sure it looks similar to this next screen:

The only value you should change is the User ID part, which can be anything you like (no spaces or "strange" characters).
This are the only parts which you really need to fill completely; all the other sections already have default values inserted and will work just fine; however, if you wish to edit them, you are free to do so.
You are now set. Press OK to go to the Status window of your mIRC client.
IV............. Basic mIRC usage
Now you have your mIRC client configured and ready to connect to irc.amcool.net and join the CB7Tuner IRC channel.
To do this, type /server irc.amcool.net, and you will see something similar to this:
[ 22:24:30 ] * Connecting to irc.amcool.net (6663)
When you are completely connected, you'll see:
[-c-] ----------------- server info start -----------------
[-c-] created: Tue Oct 25 2005 at 22:29:33 EST
[-c-] server address: A5knet.AmCool.net version: Unreal3.2.3

[-c-] modes (channel): lvhopsmntikrRcaqOALQbSeIKVfMCuzNTGj
[-c-] 742 users online (0 invisibles) on 8 servers

[ 22:24:31 ] [ Phempa sets usermode: +x ]
[ 22:24:31 ] [ opsb: Your Host is being Scanned for Open Proxies ]
Now another window will appear:

Just uncheck the box that says "Pop up favorites on connect" and close that window.
Now just type /join #accordtuner and you'll be inside the CB7Tuner IRC channel:
Alternatively, paste this: irc://irc.amcool.net/CB7Tuner/ into your browser (after setting up mIRC) and it will take you straight to the channel. If prompted, click to open channel in a new server window.
