    Drinking + Workingout ????

Ok, so I like to drink. Actually I like to drink alot. I haven't been sober for more than a few hours since Christmas.

Also, I like to workout. I like to workout alot. Almost daily, at least 4-5 times a week. I eat healthy, and drink plenty of water and all that....

I hear from people that you can't drink if you go the Gym. I don't mean drinking and then working out, I mean you really have to cut down on the drinking if you wanna stay fit. If it is true, why is that?

I love working out, but I love getting smashed too. I refuse to give up alcohol, but I hope it doesn't effect my fitness. I do notice however that the more I drink, the less energy I have at the Gym.

So whats good, it a myth, or is there some truth to it?

Besides all the excess calories which your body really can't use for any good source, it also lowers your testosterone (why guys get horny when they drink) and depletes your muscles of water. There's more as well... but these are just the basics. Anyway, lots of guys feel a fatigue while lifting after a long night of drinking. I've heard that hardcore drinking is almost like erasing up to 1-3 workouts.

wait...drinking lowers testosterone??? Then why do some guys become all "incredible hulk" and look for fights, while the rest will fuck anything with a hole???

Well first, alcohol can decrease the levels of testosterone by almost 25% and increase estrogen (say hello to bitch tits). Anyway, because of the dramatic drop in testosterone, the body releases high levels of luteinizing hormone which goes to something called the Leydig cells. The Leydig cells are what is to stimulate the testosterone production. But because alcohol decreases testosterone at the Leydig cells, the LH is ineffective at raising the testosterone.

So basically... you lose your testosterone, your body tries to make up for it and thinks that it has, but really hasn't. It's why some guys get whiskey dick... they're all ready for some action and when the time comes, can't perform.

drinking alcohol adversely affects your workouts...especially if you drink more than 6-8 beers a night (don't ask how i know)....however, my buddy only drinks hard liquor (jim beam) and is ripped...go figure.

Straight up alcohol constricts your blood vessels, your muscles need blood to build, you don't have the right amount of blood you don't get the muscle, I.E. drop the booze pick up the weights.

Alcohol is actually a vasodilator... so it actually widens the blood vessels.

The only thing you are looking at, if you drink beer that is, is a beer belly.
Alcohol will reduce the ability for your body to properly use protein, but it will not stop it. Only reduce.
So, you may just take a bit longer to develope and grow, but your still gonna.
Hard liquor gets you drunk faster, and, you dont drink nearly as much because of it. So..... If you wanna keep drinking, start hitting the hard shit.
