Just got my old '93 accord EX 2 Dr back after letting my sister drive it the last 7 years. I got front & rear DC Sport STB so far. What are some of the most cost effective mods?

Well, if you want to go cheap, I'd suggest starting with a brand new from the factory H22A1 turbocharged with a T04E ball-bearing turbo, run to a Jackson Racing M-62 supercharger. Top that off with a built bottom end, MoTec engine management and get ready to snap axles. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Thanks. I already have a weekend fun car. This is my daily commuter, so I'm looking for gadgets, comfort, and only slight performance / handling improvement. The commute is only 5 miles on seldom crowded surface streets.
The only mods I have so far:
- DC sport front STB
- DC Sport rear STB
- Bilstein shocks
- Kenwood 6 CD changers
Any other ideas?Last edited by OldHorse; 02-25-2004, 01:53 AM.'93 Accord EX Coupe

If that's going cheap, what would you consider if money is no object?

welcome
i'd suggest an aem cold air intake and a thermal r&d or a'pex-i world sport catback exhaust.
then i'd get a good aftermarket spring kit (which includes performance shocks).
you'll be lovin' her then
a little bit of performance kick, and improved handling - just what you asked for.
as far as being cost efficient, you'll get what you pay for. i'd suggest not going cheap on these select mods and buying them over time piece by piece (instead of all at once).
just my .02

Cost effective does not mean cheap in my book. While you won't find me with a set of Mugen MF10 ($2000) and a Brembo big brake kit ($2600 installed), I don't mind spending a few hundreds here and there for quality products.
I'm not sure about the AEM CAI for fear of water lock engine. I'm actually considering the K&N OE replacement filter. As for the suspension upgrade, what do you think about the H&R OE sport? What do you think about the Bilstein that I already have?
Too many newbie question, thanks for reading.

lol, well i certainly didn't mention any "cheap" mods in my previous written post. AEM, Thermal R&D, and A'pex-i aren't exactly parts that you could buy with the silver in your cb7 change drawerOriginally posted by OldHorse

as far as the COLD AIR intake goes, you can purchase and install an AEM BYPASS VALVE along with the cold air intake to prevent any possible water ingestion (hydrolocking). it's like 50 dollars extra, but well worth it. your bilstein shocks should be fine (as long as they aren't too old and worn) and H&R sports are good springs... sounds like it could make for a nice combination.
more info/review on the AEM Cold Air Intake can be found here: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...&threadid=1524

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I like the H&R OE Sports & Koni shocks (yellow) on my wife's 2000 Passat GLX. I'm interested in Tein's adjustable coilovers, just couldn't convince myself to spend more money on the suspension than the car's worth...
I'll defintely look into the AEM CAI.

Thanks for info. I put the peforated wheelskins on last weekend. It looks good and feels much better. My co-worker who has a '97 Accord EX is going to get it too.
